MARVEL Puzzle Quest 2026 Roadmap

This is it. They’re going to “rebalance” a bunch of 1-4:star: characters, and hopefully it’ll include rebalances to Hawkeye, Iron May, Spiderman, Juggernaut, etc.

Rebalances have been famously met with confusion or down right negativity.

I’ve combed thru the the old mpq tomes and more often then not people have questioned the rationale behind the buff/nerf. Often saying characters have been ruined. (I use chasm, mighty thor and polaris on a daily basis so I personally disagree). Some buffs have been excellent but has gone unnoticed, when’s the last time you used northstar or Talos?

Most buffs are seen through the pvp lens which is its own thing.

Don’t envy them, tis a narrow rope to tread.

Wait, Northstar was buffed? How rubbish was he before?

I won’t be able to find it but I’m sure someone somewhere said he’s usable ascended. :+1:

He was AWFUL, like totally useless.

Many of the buffs have been unintentionally nerfs. Robbie Reyes green was way better before they “buffed” it. 4* kingpin black was much more usable before he was buffed.

4* carnage was buffed so badly they almost immediately just put him back to the way he was before.

When last used Northstar? Well, when was he lasted boosted? He’s excellent match 8 generator. Pew pew.

Anybody remember what the events they used to do after rebalancing a character were called? I know we had one for 4* Ghost Rider and I think Kingpin? I think you could win a cover?

Yeah he is, hes very good now but I (personally) never use him or could tell you what he does.

But a buff done right, when he was released he was to quote the legend EB AWFUL.

I still want O.G. Dark Beast back. That rebalance made no sense unless they were trying to nerf him, which they did. I wonder what he would have been like ascended.

I never used him before the change and he’s really, really good now. You just make a few black matches and his match damage goes insane.

I don’t get why people are still upset about that one at all. I think there was some combo he was used in?

He was his own engine…really strong engine. Was much better and faster. I can’t remember, but there was some other things you could plug him into…Polaris being one I seem to remember.

You should try him out next time he’s boosted. His whole kit is cohesive and based around generating black AP and pumping up his match damage, and it goes very high. He’s very, very strong.

Will do that with him, it has been a minute since I have trotted him out. I did some googling and the big change was his green use to produce blue charged tiles that could feed his blue which would pump his black and also feed his green again just create that whole loop. There is probably something that was going to be busted if he staid in his original form.

I want to cast a vote for having ZERO. as in NONE. as in DO NOT USE any: Mindless Ones or Sentinels or AIM goons in the new PVEs you are working on.

Assuming your goal is to provide a higher ratio of interaction to watching things happen for players.

If the goal is to create more engagement time then have at it, and fill all the PVEs with those annoying MOFOs that do nothing to impact actual match outcome, just add forced delay of clears without Chasm being there to stun them.

That said, if you can actually speed up the gameplay and animations and things so it doesn’t take like 2 seconds for each special tile to be placed and 3 for an AIM repeater to move etc, I guess it would be more acceptable.

Yeah new enemies would be nice to go with new missions

I second that we have enough Mindless Ones in PvE.

Don’t think AIM or Sentinels appear outside of DDQ. I don’t object so much to their reuse.

Brand new enemies would be best but I’d prefer AIM or Sentinels to HAMMER goons or Maggia.

I’ve always felt that it would be nice to get an actual conclusion to the Dark Reign metaplot that runs through many of the earlier PvE events. Then the devs/publishers could move on and begin whatever new, ongoing story they’d like to tell. I liked having a story told across multiple events, and it’s a shame the one we had was never finished.

The difficulty would be finding a way to do it without making it just more repetitive fights against the Dark Avengers. That’s a difficult needle to thread.

The Dark Avengers story eventually led to an event in comics called Seige which could be a way to do it, just make that a pve.

There was an event called….Sinister 600?….that one? Maybe it was another one It capped off the Dark Avengers storyline in game. Unfortunately it was an alliance event that no one liked much and it was mothballed. It had the thing where your alliance all had to play a lot of pve to max out your rewards.

Half the story missions are missing with the Heroics and the 7 day events. You would need to return them first before you could even think about it. There’s also hasn’t been an overarching story line (since no one reads it as it’s detrimental to play) since they removed the Dark Reign subtitle from the game.

Huh… I must have missed that one. Or else I’ve blanked it from my memory.

What other one-off PvE events have there been? I remember the one that was a followup to Hearts of Darkness, featuring Amadeus Cho - possible when he was introduced into the game.
