Halfway into the game, matches tiles would not remove from the board. I had to redo several moves to get them to count.

It sounds a lot like this Reddit post from a month ago:
You can make tile matches, but they don’t register AP or damage.
AP doesn’t increase when a match is made, matched tiles are not removed, not a Mephisto bug.

When I made a match, the tiles didnt leave. I had to do one of the same matches repeatedly as my only means of doing damage. At least I was able to finish the match. Not all matches worked.

If you didn’t have Polaris on your team you would have been stuck, and forced to retreat.
Green = Particle Accelerator was the actually the only thing doing damage, and your AP was not going up when you were able to make a match, nor was it causing damage.
