2016 is dead and buried and we’ve now had time to reflect on the year that was. If Marvel Puzzle Quest had an annual awards presentation, who would you hand out nominations to? Here are the categories.

Best Female Superhero - Emma Stone in La La Land. Wait, wrong award show/category… Way to go, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
My real pick: 4* Thor. I made my move to the 4* tier in 2016 and could not have done it without Goddess Thor and the revamped IM40.
Best Male Superhero - Punisher (Max). I have never been a fan of the comic book character (sorry, Punisher5784), but there is just something so ridiculously satisfying after downing an enemy and then firing Big Pun’s green.
Best New Superhero - Peggy Carter. I absolutely love her power set, and the concept of the character. Nice work, Demiurge.
Best Comeback of the Year - IM40. From bottom of the barrel (he was one of the last 3*s I championed) to best-in-class battery.
If this is anything like the real Oscars, the winner for Best Overall Hero should be “hero that just came out 2 weeks ago that nobody actually gives a crap about.”
Best Female: Due to some luck in Latest Legends I obtained a 3/5/3 five-star Black Widow. I really enjoyed using her a lot in both PVP Simulator as well as PVE (love her purple tile remover). Easy to squeeze her colors onto a team for some extra rainbow damage.
Best Male: X-Force Wolverine. My first four-star champ took out some tough opponents with his black nuke for me, last year. He needs a good supporting cast (cmags/Loki or Iron Fist) but when I was looking at some nasty PVE scaling, XFW often got the call.
Best New: Three-star Dr. Strange runs away with the award for 2016 and its not even close. I had him champed within a week of his release after a small CP investment and some luck in vaults; I don’t regret it, as he’s been a required character in PVE ever since.
Best Comeback: I had never used my Invisible Woman outside of required nodes for the entirety of her existence (I think she was the 2nd overall 4-star?) until after her buff. Now I use her daily. That’s a helluva comeback.
Best Supporting Female: Switch is hard to leave behind, ain’t she?
Best Supporting Male: Iron Fist. Between generating black tiles, strike tiles, and attack tiles, this dude makes almost any team better.

Comeback of the year - Ironman 40
Jean and Hulkbuster brought me months of 4* covers in Pvp early in the year, which, along with Jean’s ability to make Pve easy, allowed me to fully break into 4 star land, so on their behalf I’d like to thank D3 go, Demiurge, all the devs, Marvel, and you the players; they wouldn’t be anything without your characters to repeatedly Repulsor Punch in the face in pvp.
Gonna have to go with Quake on this. Her green when she is boosted is NASTY.
Best Male Superhero
Red Hulk. Even unboosted, he has allowed me to climb in pvp like never before.
Best New Superhero
Doctor Strange. Not only are his powers fun to use, but this is the first new 3* we’ve gotten in some time. Glad to see the devs helping out the 3* players on this.
Best Comeback of the Year
Tie between Star Lord and Chulk. Both went from trash tier to top tier for me. (not like top5, but high up.)
Best Supporting Female
Scarlet Witch, hands down. So many characters need so much purple, and Wanda steps up. Her green is nice when you just need one more of a color, too.
Best Supporting Male
I feel the current meta really requires Iron Man 40, so I suppose this award will be a tie between him and 3* Doctor Strange. Depends on who I’m fighting.
