So its a 4* and not a 5*. Unlikely for it to be Cyclops now.

If it stays that way, I think I might actually start playing a lot less of this game. Shards aren’t enough to keep up with 5/4/5/4 unless you whale. I’m sure I’m not the only vet who thinks that way. With all these bundles and 5* being pushed out quickly, it looks like they don’t care as much about the viability of the game; only about cashing out. Yeah, I know this is an old game (especially by mobile standards), but it really was one of the few games where you didn’t need to whale to be competitive. I know this falls on deaf ears, but there’s something cathartic about this…

Part of me is hoping that they unveil a new feature that deals with acquiring 5*, but I’m not holding my breath. Especially with the lack of communication since the shardpocalypse. Another part of me is hoping they name a community manager and they troll us by naming them Godot…

Increased five star release rate meaning less time in latest.
No established pattern for 4* feeders for these new 5s
Diluting the amount of time the latest are in pve events so we can’t earn as many covers on the new 5s

yeah I don’t know what to think about the release schedule. We still don’t know the plan for feeders now that Carbage is slipping into Classic. I’m wondering if the better play is going to be the hybrid spend approach of spending latest to acquire a cover of a new release, then just burn CP into the dilution pit over in classics to maximize shard drops. If Latest is going to be what amounts to a Special Release store, the odds advantage hardly seems worth it.

Noted that this round of featured PvE 5* includes latests Mr. Sinister and BRB, but then goes right back to classics rather than the 3rd character in latests (be that Carnage or Havok at that point). In addition we had more classics in a row than normal before this batch of two latests. Is that just an odd timing thing or can we expect a substantive change to the featured 5* rotation of 3 latest/2 classic?

Note I don’t think that’s a bad thing, but it’s a change that would be useful to know if it’s going to be consistent.

Not a bad thing?

  1. It appears we are getting a 5 every 4 weeks, so you get 12 weeks in Latests (the shortest time ever)

  2. In a CCCLL cycle you would get…I don’t know exactly but a lot less times to gather shards for the Latests before they are out. So they would negate the supposed benefit that LLLCC offered (every 5 weeks you got a cover for each Latests if you play in 10, under CCCLL you fall into it would be more like every 6, I think?)

Anyway it would definitely be putting increased pressure on players and negating some of the benefit that SCL10 supposedly gives.

I actively dislike this new development, but I don’t know if I dislike it enough to quit.

I suspected we were reaching the upper bound of how big the 4* tier could get, so it’s kind of about time it congealed the way the 3* tier and 2* tiers have done. But right now this feels like it is going to be a hard path to follow chasing latests.

Reading the tea leaves, I wonder if 4*s are going to peter out altogether, and every 3rd “release” will just be an overhauled Classic who’d been rebalanced eventually?

I’ll try to clarify–accelerating access to classics in HFH is not necessarily a bad thing, imo. The pool is deep enough that a LLLCC takes a year to cycle through to a given classic, and it’s worse if you need a specific color. What I am asking is clarification if this was a one-off due to Havoc’s quick introduction (eh, no big deal), or if there will be a permanent switch to LLCCC (bigger deal if so for the reasons you state) or if it will be more like LLLCCC. Yes, even that is fewer cracks at the full set of latests since it lowers their exposure a bit, but I’m not sure adding that extra classic in the rotation to churn through those faster isn’t a decent tradeoff.

Of course, I’m a more recent player who doesn’t have many classics covered. Older vets with most of the classics covered would obviously have a different perspective.

@IceIX is this going to be the new norm of one 5* a month? If so any consideration to adding more feeders soon and adding back the lost CP from shards in champ rewards and events back into the game?

Wait so no boss event? For a 5* release there was a boss event where most of the community would get 2 tokens for the new 5* release store “Power overwhelming Pack”. Now the only way to get tokens is to be top 5 in PVE for 1 and first place for 2. Why is it always give one thing and take away another. I thought it was great to give Havok shards in PVE And adding special tokens for PVE, but then taking away the boss event and the tram effort to get 2 tokens for an entire alliance is a step backwards.

Man this game is becoming a slog now, might just delete the thing and be done with it. Seems like they aren’t interested in helping people who aren’t veterans. I get that once you get so far in the game you are swimming in HP Scrooge McDuck style but if you aren’t that far you are sort of stuck not able to make any sort of progress due to the sheer amount of catch up you have to do. Am I the only who feels this way?

You and me both. Make no mistake, I play this game WAY too much, and have been for the last 2-3 years I’ve been really competitive (first in PvE, then PvP). But I was playing that hard because I was trying to catch up, and I was getting caught up, slowly but surely. And that was enough to keep driving me forward.

For all my playing, it’s been barely enough to stay current with 5s while making some headway on getting all my classic 5s champed. I’ve been able to do that largely by pulling LTs and saving CP for new or special release stores. Most of my 5*s leave Latest at 460 or less, so it’s not like they’re getting pumped up to crazy levels or anything, but it was good enough for me.

After almost 4 years of playing and nearly 2.5 after starting the 5* transition, I still don’t have Hawkeye, Iron Man, Phoenix, Black Widow, FA Cap, or Doc Ock finished. Some are close, the last two really still aren’t.

If we’re really going 4/5/4/5, there’s no way that method will keep up. Mayyyyybe if you spent every last resource in Latest you could make it work, but even then RNG would need to be favorable. But then you’ll never have any spare CP to use on new/special release stores. So if you don’t get a character finished during the brief window they’re in Latest, you’ll have to wait for a feeder announcement or to come around again for placement/progression shards, or target them in the meantime to try to finish them off. Any which way you slice it, not exactly great options.

Who knows, maybe this is for the best in the end run. I figured I’d be here until they shut the servers off because I’m too stubborn to quit (and maybe a little too addicted), but if they alter the conditions of the game such that it becomes an impossible burden to keep up without forking over a ton of cash, then they’re effectively cutting me off and making the decision for me which I was too weak to make myself.
