Need 3* advice

Hi I’m NoGimmicks in MPQ. I’m in ThreeOhFive alliance. I used to be in the deepspace alliances and before them I was in the Team Tesla alliance. I am a 2* player that has 4 maxed 2s, a lot of 3s(none maxed or fully covered), and is currently maxing Juggs( for DDQ). I am looking for someone( not an alliance) that could help me get on a good path in MPQ.

I think I went the wrong route because I just maxed Ares(literally) and sold many Thor covers( regret it now) and have maxed moonstone, captain marvel, daken, and Ares. Working on OBW, classic storm, and Wolvie, sold Captain America, magneto, mystique, elektra, and beast.

I plan on getting johnny storm and Capt. America back so I can handle all 2* roster enemies.

I end in T100 a lot unless I get attacked into disappointment and completely abandon PvP. I get at least 500 points and I use a lot of iso( a lot).

I plan on maxing sentry first unless I get Steve Rodgers or Colossus( non-negotiable). I know Luke cage is better but fastball special is awesome and immovable object helps a lot.. I have xforce 0/3/0, starlord 0/0/1, and 4hor 0/1/0. I only really care for Nick Fury( demolition).

Personal message me if you want to see my full roster. I will not stop playing this game until I have most of the characters on this game maxed(dead serious). But really I just need a vet or at least someone who what they’re doing, so they can help me out.

P.S. Even though I’m a 2* player I know a lot about this game and when I’m not doing anything I think about perfect team combos(even I do not have the characters) because I think of the best team not the best character.

Hi! Welcome to the forums. I can relate to your regret, I saw Thor’s powerset and thought, “meh.” I’m regretting it now too but am on the path to revovery… I was/am stingy with my roster space and back then I was more interested in other characters. You don’t have that failing but…it’s gonna get expennnssivvve.

I’m not a day 1 vet but I’ll be happy to help you. One thing though, I don’t see a question in your post; what advice are you looking for? I can tell you that the fact that you look for team dynamics and synergy is great. Keep doing that. And read Northern Polarity’s guide located here:

Thx I have read the guide but due to recent changes I don’t really agree with it anymore though its basis is awesome. I did have one question: Is quicksilver, prof x, iron man 40, Rags and Loki with the trouble?

Oh and I love team dynamics and synergy like colossus, sentry, and Lazy Daken.

I think most of polarity’s advice is still sound with respect to 2*s.

My general advice to players building their 2* roster is to focus on the following characters in the following order if at all possible

OBW (3/5/5)
Ares (4/4/5)
2* Daken (4/4/5 is my preference but there are multiple good builds)
2* Thor (3/5/5)

back in my day, stormneto was also a powerful combo worth having for tough pve nodes, but they don’t have the all around value of ares/obw/daken, so they were a second wave. With the recent changes to mnMags, I’m not really sure where to recommend him if at all.

A. Wolvie and 2* Torch are also good characters and leveling them isn’t a waste. I just don’t think they are as good as those listed above.

I never got to play much with ms. marvel, but my impression is that she is average at best. Moonstone and 2* cap are worse.

Turning to 3*s:

DON’T LEVEL COLOSSUS!!! I have 2 reasons for this: (1) he is vaulted right now, so you can’t get any token pulls for him, nor will there be any pve or pvp rewards any time soon; and (2) he’s just not very good. Wait until the devs release a rework for him (maybe in the next month or two). He might be worth a look after that, but right now he just isn’t very good.

You are correct that Cage is MUCH MUCH better colossus. I would also recommend Lazy Thor, Lazy Daken, Patch, Blade, Loki, Hood, Iron Fist, and Doom. (Lazy cap and black panther are also quite good, but are both vaulted I think) To the extent it’s possible, try to build a good team or two of 3*s. An ideal team is one that covers lots of colors with active powers, has at least one tank to soak up damage, and provides all of the following: high damage output, cheap and reliable defensive moves, ap theft, and boardshake.

Also, there is no need to raise juggs above 26-30 if all you need is the daily quest. He can solo the 1* node at 26 just fine, and you should start saving iso for the 3*s as soon as possible.

Thx for the advice I now know I can sell iron man 35. I am currently working on leveling OBW and Wolvie. I use moonstone for mostly red and purple (especially red). I use captain Marv for her black and yellow. I need johnny storm for his red and black. Thor for green. Capt. A for yellow and blue. I’m not gonna pour any iso into 3*, so I’m gonna stockpile all of their covers.

I love your gameplanning and your optimism, but I completely disagree with your strategy. Sentry and Colossus will never be the answer to high end play as far as I’m concerned, but LDaken is top tier. If you truly want to use that strategy please post your results (not trying to come off the wrong way here) because I don’t believe that strategy will do it for you (if you prove me wrong more power to you).

I also wouldn’t put a whole lot of effort into 2* Cap or Torch if you’re already hitting T100 placements. They can definitely help when boosted in PvE, but I wouldn’t call either of them essential and if you’re already over the hump (New MMR changes may be skewing strategies) in PvP and hitting T100 they probably won’t help you for long. OBW, Cstorm, and MnMags are a few 2* I’d still work on because they are all situationally useful even in 3* land (OBW is always useful).

If I were in your shoes I would say absolutely max LDaken, hold off on Sentry and Colossus, focus on 3Thor, The Hood, Loki, Patch, Cyclops, Iron Fist, and Blade (May have missed some) first (whoever you have the most covers for). Kamala Khan may warrant some attention as well and Hulk is a viable option to pair with Patch if he’s on your list.

I hope this is somewhat helpful to you, but in the end you have to do what you feel is best. If that is Sentry, Colossus, LDaken I’d really like to know how that team works out because it’s definitely a new perspective and if it’s successful I’d think that could make everyone on these forums become a little more open to some abnormal/new combos.

This is somewhat wrong…moonstone is quite viable in none goon nodes..both red and purple are decent and cheap, 2 star Ms marvel is also good in 2 star land as there aren’t any good yellow abilities. Don’t level cap as lazy cap is so much better and will never use again. 2 star torch is ok for pushing but horrible for defense.

Can I just add that ms. Marvel 2* is probably the most regularly buffed character for Pve and had a usable black at decent cost and decent power.
I frequently use her with OBW & Ares.
I also always use MNM, Storm, Hawkeye, it still works. Just not as fast as it was.

And this is my personal take on other 2s:
I never use Johnny torch because weak health and ap thief.
I never use 2Cap - abilities too expensive. But maybe he shines in wave battles? I don’t know. Never use him.
Also never use Wolverine because weak green, red is expensive. My other characters have usually killed off the goons before Wolverines red is ready.
Even when he’s buffed I always use Ares instead.
But that’s just my personal preference.

In terms of 3* advice…
Keep getting top 100 placements
Never sell a cover.
Use HP on roster slots, only.
Get lucky token pulls.
Don’t level your 3*s until they are actually covered & useable.

Lol all this advice is so awesome. Im getting my 4th cyclops cover 1/1/2. Iron fist is 1/1/1 and blade is 1/1/0. The reason I depend on any wolverine is because of true healing and I think they heal faster. But other than that I do plan on taking all of your advice.
