It would be awesome if there were “Team-up” abilities added to the game, but you don’t know they exist until you have both members in your party. All “Team-up” abilities are combinations of the characters existing powers and they require a combination of different color AP to use.
Example:
When Iron Man and Captain America are both in your party you can use a new “Team-up” ability “Repulsor Blast Shield” that cost 8 Red and 8 Blue AP. Iron Man shoots a Repulsor Blast at Cap’s shield and Cap redirects it at all enemies.
This would add a completely new layer of meta to the game and would help to create more diverse lineups, and of course, awesome animations!!
This reminds me of Dual Techs and Triple Techs from Chrono Trigger. I love the idea, just as an idea, but I think that the rarity system and huge level disparities might get in the way, and balancing such a potentially huge expansion to the game would be tricky.
OK I am now literally drooling at the idea of combining Thor’s Green ‘Call The Storm’ with C Storm’s Blue ‘Wind Storm’ for say 1.5 x combined damage plus full team stun. I would finally fancy my chances against some of the tougher 230s!
This would be very cool, but there are a few caveats that I can think of:
AI on defense would be even worse than it already is, compared to a human player.
It’s going to widen the gap between 2*-3* players and 1*-2* players, since people with diverse rosters will gain that much more of an upper hand.
Balancing.
That said, it could give greater progression longevity to 1* characters (like in your Cap + IM35 example), and would be a great way to strengthen weak characters (ahem, Bag-Man & Yelena).
