I think that’s a solution many people could agree on, and one I mentioned earlier as well. If you look at the card it’s based on, you can see that PQ tacked on haste where it didn’t exist before. The card is still plenty powerful without haste, and wouldn’t need any change otherwise if there was a turn to respond before it starts taking your things.
No haste but the mtg card gets 2 free cards. Therefore, i think haste is a fair add on to mitigate the loss of 1 extra free card per attack.
That being said, i do also believe hes quite powerful in mtgpq as he is now. I am not against nerfing him but with the influx of flash kill cards and possibly more in the future, i am unsure as of now. It really depends on the new set.
No mana gained makes him too weak. Full mana gained makes him too strong. Removing haste does seems like a reasonable nerf.
If they fixed him the cards stolen wouldn’t come w/o mana. I’d take a full card from their deck over an empty card from mine almost any time, and it would only happen if I have a full hand so I’ve probably already got whatever cards I want in my hand..
oh and let’s nerf a bunch of those origins cards, they are pretty good cards too.
oh yeah, also a few weeks ago I had s match where I just pulled all the wrong cards and I actually lost to an uncommon 4/2. Can’t even remember the card name so let’s nerf all those overpowered 4/2s as well, cause if i lost a match it must mean the cards overpowered right???
Yes that’s sarcasm.
No, Etali does not need a nerf.
This is magic. Not the easy win game where players always get to win.
The only time a card needs to be nerfed follows the same logic as paper magic.
Either A
The card warps the meta of the game due to unforeseen card interactions.
IE Baral or carriage
or B
The card or cards dominate the meta to the point that the majority of players use the same deck.
IE cycling in mtgpq.
Which I may add wasnt nerfed u til it left standard.
Just because a card is good in some ways and you may lose to it being played once in awhile is not grounds for the card to be nerfed.
Etali is a very dangerous creature to play against, with a mixed bag of outcomes, but that is exactly what makes playing against etali fun.
The handsize thing should be fixed though: it should be possible to draw more than six cards but requiring you to exile by choice at the end of turn.
We had cards in HOU that added cards over your max, and that didnt break the game then, so it shouldnt now…
The forums can miraculously have more than 1 thread going at once, it’s incredible! So it’s easy for us to keep talking about this while there are more important issues and keep them separate!
Talking about Etali is almost relaxing after the other stuff, this is entertainment!
Small nerf. Removing haste=perfect.
Ghalta is false equivalence, while Ghalta is free you need to combo to draw more cards, it’s not overwhelming by itself.
