My friend’s 5 year old saw the new Bolas art as I was entering the forums and asked why I talk to gross lizard people online.
I asked what he meant by that and he got that idea because he thought the new Bolas forum artwork looked like an angry lizard hacking up a loogie.
I cannot unsee that now. That 5 year old kid has wrecked my mind.
So I had to share it with all of you.

He looks like those annoying demon cave worms in Dark Souls. Acid spit and everything.
He looks half-goblin to me. Maybe he’s Squee’s long-lost half-brother, and that’s why he’s so hard to kill? Or he stole Squee’s DNA to make himself even harder to kill.
I had the revelation this morning that the newer Bolas art looks like the Grinch that Stole Christmas. Now the boot flash screen always makes my mind sing “You’re a mean one, Mr. Bolas”.
Seriously, though. I don’t like the way he looks at all. Not in any threatening way. Just that he looks quite gross and weedy.

As supposedly one of the top 3 most dangerous villains in all of MTG, this art really does Bolas a disservice.

Just had my first battle against the new Bolas and I want to take a moment to apologize to all of you for posting this thread.
At the time I didn’t think they were using that exact same art for the new bolas walker, I thought they’d use the flip side or one of the other in-game art.
But they chose that one, and I still can’t get that vision of Bolas out of my mind. I crack up every time I face the new planeswalker.

This is true, but it’s a flip card so they could’ve used the other side.
I mean I guess it beats the Nicol Bolas, the Angry Gremlin art that’s used as the set cover.
I’m not really complaining, I just think it’s funny.
