The Steve Rogers node on Team Cap suggested that I use Peggy Carter. 
Yup. Happened to me multiple times. I always choose Peggy of course.
Interestingly it defaults to Peggy, but you can’t use Kate for the Hawkeye nodes
And yet, it will still let you play peggy and steve on those nodes (Peggy can’t be in the middle).
I used 5teve for those, because I just put some levels into him.
Same thing on spidey nodes I could use black suit instead of 3* spidey
That’s because Kate Bishop isn’t hawkeye. She’s kate bishop.
Meanwhile, Peggy Carter is literally alternate timeline Captain America.
That’s because you could use any version of Spider-Man there (at least out of Peter Parker variants)
But she’s not the alternate timeline Steve Rogers!
And the team selection screen says “Steve Rogers ready!” even when Peggy is chosen…
Turns out Peggy was a cross-dressing Steve Rogers the whole time.

A.k.a. in a timeline where Steve Rodgers never got to be the captain, she is the cap instead. Read your bios, friends.
Read the node, no one is disputing that they are both captain America however the node says STEVE ROGERS. they may both be cap but only one of them is Steve Rogers.
I’m more amused when boss essential nodes keep trying to sneak in 1s for characters I have 2s and 3s and 4s for.
Oh, Storm essential? You want to use your 1* Storm, not your champed 3* MoStorm, right?
And, as far as I’m guessing, you couldn’t use Spider-Gwen on the Spidey nodes.
