My Pact of Negation triggered on my opponent’s turn, before he made a move.
He had no cards in play and had played nothing in that game.
I had an Eye of Ugin and an Eldrazi Temple in play.

The same thing happened later in the game, every time I cast Pact of Negation.
My teammate has mentioned to me that it might have happened in response to a PW ability being used? I shall have to check that.
My opponent in the above game was Angrath.
Ok, maybe I have figured out what happened! I’m playing AX, and each node has a “permanent spell” which the game casts every turn.
I’ve never noticed that effect in the game before, I thought permanent effects in nodes were always on supports!
Incidentally, some of AXs node effects aren’t working properly.

Yeah, this has always been a thing with Across Ixalan. The node effects count as a spell being cast.
They trigger all abilities that involve spells.
Its been reported a dozen times or so, but I guess its not really a bug or it would have been fixed by now sarcasm
