I know it’s just my mind playing tricks on me or a run of bad luck (or both) but I swear I have had more bad starting boards and AI cascades of doom tonight than the past few days combined.
PVE introducing new character ending near same time as Season has driven me off.
Timing is everything, and D3 has shown again and again with timing of concurrent events, timing of EU regions, timing of end of events - timing is only their for their profit. My time will be spent elsewhere.
while I would be in agreement to different end times for all events. Has anyone ever looked at it that when all of them ending at the same time forces you to focus only the one you want? Thereby giving someone else a chance as you do not have the entire world competing all at once and all in the same arena. If the current system is so competitive, (until they fix it) I cant imagine what the result will be if only 1 event runs at a time or finishes at a particular time.
E.g.
Recently I was able to finish top 25 and took 2 Falcon covers with the color I was missing. Past event where they featured falcon I would normally not have any success, but to my surprise I put up virtually the same score and instead of finishing near top 100 for a cover I do not need I was able to grab 2 and placed in 15th. The reason? I started the PvP event right when the last PvE was about to end, which meant hardcore players were pushing hard in the final minutes and there would be no way they would want to jump into a new PVP which enabled me to join an easy bracket. At least that was my theory and it worked.
Maybe it was luck, maybe it was not. Having multiple events starting and ending together is not as bad as you think. It only hurts those who want to win in all of them. But if you pick and choose, it gets less frustrating.
I agree, choosing PVE or PVP makes it calmer, and PVP is less grindy to get your rewards (unless get lucky in your PVE entry/rubber-band times).
The problem becomes more on the alliance side - the twenty people need to agree which to push for. You all want to push for season of course, it’s the 4* reward and more time/work put into it. But you also want to push for the new character: it’s almost certainly going to be the next PVE essential as well as an upcoming PVP focused.
If it was a non-new character PVE and PVP ending, no problem. If it was a non-new character PVE and Season ending, no problem. If it was a new character PVE and PVP ending, no problem. It’s really only an issue when it is BOTH new character and Season ending at the same time.
Finished #3. Didn’t buy one health pack or boost. I did optimize the heck out of the (free) TUP system. In fact, I still have two 50% heroic pve boosts (now retired) that I did not need to use.
I guess that depends on your perspective, strength of your roster, and alliance placement. If you need all three covers, given the recent changes, you have to be top10 in most events to get all three covers, even if your alliance is a top 10 alliance. You used to be able to finish top 25 and still get all three covers, now, you cannot.
