Did Oscorp teach you nothing? LOL. They will not cancel the event. I do however see them expanding the rewards structure to include more people like they did with Oscorp. To end an event and restart it would “disenfranchise too many people”, as it has been stated. So instead of canceling the event, fixing the issues, and restarting it, which would be the right thing to do, it is just easier to throw more covers/rewards at people and hope that it makes the majority happy.
I would be happy with that, them expanding the rewards like in oscorp. Restarting the event would be bad because of all the money/HP that was already spent. And you can’t just refund it, because in a subsequent run, the rng gods would favor and hate on each individual player differently the next time through. So you would get players who have gotten refunded X HP, then end up using only a quarter of the amount this time to get the same result, while others would end up using Y × 1.5, and end even lower.
So a reset is not the appropriate answer to the problem here. At least expanding the rewards structure would be something of a good adjustment to server slowdown/shutdown during event hours.
