Tons of people are not able to login to the game right now due to an issue with the facebook login. I’m a member of Black Phoenix, a large family of coalition teams. Tons of our members are posting that they cannot login to their account through facebook. I myself am unable to log into the game with my account, which is also linked to facebook.
Given that this problem is happening less than a day before the weekend’s coalition event starts, given that so many players are unable to access their account, given that the most committed players tend to have their account linked to another service for ease of access, given that many players who have so linked their account have chosen facebook, and given that it will be extremely difficult for competitive coalition teams to have full rosters of participating players since so many players are unable to access the game, I am requesting that you cancel this weekend’s coalition event, which I believe is Breaking the Powerstone (I’m not 100%, because I can no longer get into my account to confirm my memory).
The coalition aspect of the game is why many people continue to play. You become connected to your team members, and playing an event takes on greater significance than it ordinarily does. You feel a responsibility to your team members, and it’s fun to boot. So it’s a real shame when a bug like this prevents so many people from accessing the game and playing the event.
I think canceling the coalition event this weekend and making sure that the problem is fixed before the coalition event runs again on June 30 is the right call.
I agree with Scrounger’s proposal. It would be unfair to lock so many players out of the event, who would otherwise gladly participate. There will be plenty of other events to be had after this issue has been dealt with.
I’ve just returned to the game after the 4 years of break. And now I remember why I was out. A lot of issues, which will never be fixed. Investigation time could be more than year, so you won’t be able to play some cards or PWs because of that. They should focus themself of fixing the bugs rather than just dropping new content.
Thank you Scrounger and everyone else who commented. I don’t think this will be handled by Oktagon, we will probably just be given 20 gold for the inconvenience and that’s that, if anything at all is done. I hope I’m proven wrong.
@Oktagon_Support : Please let us know what you are going to do about this BEFORE the event starts. My personal preference: take your time to figure out what’s going on by replacing the team event with a non team event. That will buy you some time to get a decent fix for this issue.
You keep on talking about “connecting” with the community, but most of the time when it matters, you don’t seem to be at home.
I am seeing a lot of people having this problem. I don’t know how small or how widespread it is but a single player not being able to play can have a big impact on competitive coalitions.
I agree that if the problem can’t be fixed before the event begins, Oktagon should replace it with another non coalition event.
I can make a guess how widespread it is. In our teams we’re currently just over 10% of players. That is only counting the players that are awake, online, checked Discord, and checked MtG:PQ. I think it’s safe to assume that the affected playerbase is around 20%-25% of the total playerbase.
Having a competitive event with (roughly) a quarter of the competitors not able to compete seems ridiculous to me. I’m in favor of cancelling Break the Powerstone. Replacing it with a non-competitive event seems like a great solution. That way there are events to play, resources to gather, and a fair playing field for the competitive teams.
I am also unable to log in through Facebook. I had been in the middle of moving teams before this happened, so I’m now stuck in limbo between teams. So even if I could join the game, I’m not yet in a team to resolve this.
In favor of cancelling. It is not a given that all teams are effected equally by this situation, therefore moving ahead with the event will give some teams advantages over others. Im not talking about purps/gold/runes (although that also matters) but more about the all time points. For most of the playerbase this is a non issue, but for the top teams each event is a leg in a race and missing out on potentially 2000+ points compared to other teams is devastating
