What do you think of Prism Array? How do you like playing against it? Is it better in some decks than others? How about in Kiora, who can protect it by playing multiple cheap supports, many of which create opportunities for further landfalls?
Do you agree that it should have been buffed from when it was first created? Maybe it’s not powerful enough yet, and should be buffed further?
Tell me what you think about this card, which is a thing that exists, in the thread below!
Once again I think it’s only broken by the existence of Nissa’s Renewal/Season’s past which let you combine an absurd amount of card drawing with an absurd amount of mana gain without much effort.
There are more worrisome cards to worry about than prism array. What about gae’s revenge and hydra?.
As for RC, i’m 50/50, people are putting counters to it already.
Trail of Evidence support card ( When you cast a spell, investigate) from blue to me is more useful and effective than Prism Array in a Kiora deck. It will draw you more cards than Prism Array. Trail of Evidence + Sage of Ancient lore results to more growth and Sphinx’s Tutelage + Trail of evidence drains more mana. Trail of Evidence does better than Prism Array at anything, except disable the first target which is not that critical anyway. For prism array you have to match 4 or more gems to draw something.
There was a bug I was not able to screen capture. I had 9 or 10 cards drawn in hand with trail of evidence, the icons got smaller to fit the other cards.
I dont think its broken. There has never been a game for me where the opponent having that card was critical to my loss.
As morphis said… you dont control the landfall so its not consistent. There are no players out there losing the games solely because of this card’s existance.
I guess if they HAD to nerf it they could decrease the shield value one point or decrease the card draw to 2 cards. But i dont think it needs the nerf.
As mentioned, Kiora makes this ridiculous, but manageable. Prism Array + Sphinx + Sage can give you a hexproof card that ramps up quickly. Yes UH might be better, but everyone can have Sphinx and Sage from completing events, but not UH. Definitely not broken or OP though. Red decks will laugh as they cast demolish as soon as it gets on the board, and green decks will giggle politely as they cast entangling vines. (or whatever) AI is too stupid to really abuse it, and good players aren’t affected by it. With the plethora of cards that grant investigate now, card draw isn’t really hard to come by.
Power level wise it is not hard to play against if the AI plays it compared to other problem cards. The issue is that it really makes any blue deck (esp. Kiora) very very good when piloted by players. For a similar comparison, Mizzium Meddler used to be awesome for players as the AI couldn’t play around it and it mostly locked them down, while if you faced one cast by the AI it was a little annoying but some hand switching mostly negated the effect. They nerfed Mizzium to unplayability (for me).
I’m arguing that Prism doesn’t need to be nerfed, we should restore the meddler to match its power level!
Yes, it is strong, but I’ve never had issues playing against it. I don’t even consider it a high priority for destruction, unless she gains something from drawing cards (like Sage on the battlefield). Not to mention that most of the time my Prism Array is on the battlefield too, so her first creature gets disabled too and I draw cards too. Put a sphinx on the battlefield and don’t think much about it.
There are far worse cards in the game to be worried for Prism Array.
For the record, I do not own the card.
My problem is not with the card’s power level. It’s with the fact it has caused plenty of game freezes for me. I have faced it a few times recently and have not had my game frozen, so maybe the issue has been resolved. If it has not, then I will not be happy about its existence until it has.
Maybe those who own it can tell us whether the card still locks the game up under certain circumstances. If that is a thing of the past, I would gladly play it myself on any suitable deck.
Interesting, you’ve seen freezes? I’ve seen a number of freezes in varying circumstance, but never in conjunction with prism array (which is a mainstay in my blue decks). But it’s often the only on landfall trigger effect with maybe one other rarely. I have noticed multiple different landfall triggers in conjunction do cause problems sometimes, particularly when one involves something entering the battlefield.
It’s worth mentioning, I think, that I often play with Retreat to Coralhelm, and it’s a very good card itself.
The same cannot be said for most cards which are directly comparable to better versions: Shamble Back, Lightning Javelin, Complete Disregard, Expedition Envoy…
Never had a game against the AI where I had little chance to win because of that card. So, strong card, but not broken to the level that I think it needs to be rebalanced like some other cards do.
