KK and Thor can both make nice match 5s with green as well. QS black is also handy. If you need things to buff, Psylocke can put out tiles quickly and PX can buff them like nobodies business.
PX SW GSBW can beat any team in PVE. It works great agains goons too. Either SW or GSBW need to have a higher purple than PX blue.
Thats about it, match purple, then pull off GSBW purple into green… if PX dies first your in trouble, he can survive on his own with invisibility if it has to happen, otherwise I retreat if he dies first on hard nodes.
I recently got my PX 5th blue too and here are my thoughts:
PX yellow is useless for this team. It only wastes time and sometimes puts the tiles in awkward positions preventing GSBWs green working properly. His covers should be ideally 5/5/0 (or 5/0/0 since you don’t need purple either) for pve and 5/3/5 for pvp.
If you wan’t to use PX/GSBW even when he is boosted don’t level him past 170. He should be boosted to 221 when he is essential then. At 222 his blue will surpass maxed GSBWs purple as the stongest color ruining the combo. It’s not like he needs levels anyway.
Scarlet witch does not need levels either as she is only there for her passive. But if you have her leveled she should be given match priority over GSBW so she can be the sacrificial lamb if things go poorly.
To be honest a prof.x and gsbw seems like a bad combo. You are basically hoping and praying you get prof x. master plan off while ignoring prof.x other abilities. Adding Switch to the mix is nice so maybe you can get prof. x master plan more often and accelerate gsbw purple, but still that teams seems limited. Especially when Switch’s tile can be matched away, or you cannot get master plan off or heaven forbid get stuck on the side or worse stuck in the corner.
I’ve been running prof.x/SWitch/Psylocke. That team will basically run through all goon nodes, all gauntlet type nodes in EoTs, and a few high level nodes in pve. First off the team is a rainbow team. Switch tanks purple for prof.x, so that leaves blue and yellow for prof. x. Psylocke abilities are cheap especially black. Once Psy fires off a red/black power, you are laying down 4 friendly tiles: red= 2 strength, 1 attack, 1 shield or black= 1 strength 2 attack, 1 shield. Red can get cheap real fast if the random strength tile lands on a red lowering psy ap cost. You still have Switch to fire off prof.x master plan and accelerates his purple and also her AoE. SWtich green can be used to protect prof-x invisble purple. or setup SWitch blue power. The only use for psy blue is fire off Prof-x’s passive. In gauntlet type nodes, you can cause over 5K or more in damage per round with all those friendly tiles especially towards the end of the gauntlet node.
Now does it solve all the problems, no. Is it a more flexible team? Yes. Is it better than prof-x/gsbw/switch? That’s for the masses to decide.
But that didn’t matter so much when shields were unlimited, plus there was no such thing as good defense when Patchneto gave an attacker infinite turns or Sentry+Daken/Hood won the game in 60 seconds.
Personally, gsbw/prof x is all I have with x right now as mine still only has 1 purple cover, so he doesn’t boost any special tiles. But with 4k damage and 4ap generated per match, he is still a great accelerator in pve if you can get the match5s rolling.
I see that yellow, and to a lesser extent purple, are somewhat counterproductive for this use of prof x., but I still don’t think 5/0/0 is the solution because you want to maximize the popping head damage. . .
As for nerfs, I think mnmags was changed because of winfinite with mystique, not stormneto. Stormneto was just collateral damage (and I understand it’s still pretty good because mnmags’ red is much easier to use).
That’s kinda the point… they coexisted… Patchneto was never part of the high end meta, because it took way longer and you’d get sniped all to hell. At best, it could’ve been nice for climbing, but this was back when most people tanked pre-event, so you never needed to worry about what your climb team would be.
Masses decided already. PX-GSBW-SWitch won by KO at :25 of the first round. In all but the shittiest of boards/SW placement, the game is over on turn 3-4. Waves, goons, 395 opponents, doesn’t really matter. The fail rate is extremely low.
