I think it’s safe to call this one a bug.
I could see it being a feature. If they arent sure what to do with the cost of slots after 100 they could allow players to go over limit, without purchasing slots. When costs are decided players will have to pay to increase their slots. If a player grabbed 5 slots over 100 and needs another, if he is at 105/100 he would have to buy 6 slots to get to 105/106.
But that may be overthinking it.
