Agreed. Round 1 was somewhat challenging to accumulate enough AP. Once I had enough
, I had to say, it was a piece of cake. One advice is definitely use
on goons even after KOing tile movers to prevent them accumulating ludicrus amount of AP which if you match to end a round, the next wave tile mover COULD execute a devastating ability.
Ugh, the Hood strategy is out with no blue cover. LCap is great for survival nodes but he’s not got enough covers to target countdowns. Maybe Thor/ModMags/C.Storm? I use them for the 2* DDQ, but I don’t see them lasting that grind. Maybe put in LDaken instead of Thor, for healing and strike tiles? Either way it’s going to be a longshot.
I’ve never really used Human Torch though, maybe someone’s found a strategy using him? You would need some kind of defense, maybe Cage added in with him?
I was able to clear this on my first attempt with LCap, OBW, and loaner Antman. This is 2/3 of my DDQ Big Enchilada team, so it’s familiar territory for me (Cage is my third).
The strategy is similar to LCap + Hood, only a little more accessible for those without a usable Hood (i.e. 5 blue covers). Focus on purple, blue, red. OBW collects bonus blue and steals all other AP with her purple; LCap stuns, dishes damage, and overwrites tiles; Antman uses his yellow to add a smidge of extra oomph (or use LCap’s yellow to negate match damage down to 1).
If you’re in a pickle with a countdown timer that you can’t overwrite without enough blue AP for LCap, you can use OBW’s blue to bail you out and heal. That’s where I find OBW to be a little handier than Hood on survival nodes.
LCap is 3/5/5 @ level 120. OBW is 3/5/5 @ level 94. Enemies on final node were level 145.
I might give this strategy a try. My LCap cant overwrite CD tiles but I can at least clear away strike/protect/attack tiles with his red and use OBW blue to heal and delay timers.
I personnally love using beast in those waves, he can create tons of protect tiles (while also producing tattack and strike tiles) and he can heal wich helps greatly (the heal can also produce a protect tile). I personnaly used him in combination with OBW (to remove all their AP) and wolverine (2 stars).
Being in my transition from 2 to 3 stars, I don’t have any fully covered 3 stars, but this strategy allowed me to beat the first wave node at almost full health. Now i’m simply waiting a bit to see if that strategy can be used in the second wave node as well.
After some painful fights against Gorgon in various events, there’s something immensely satisfying about having the loaner Ant-Man one-shot him with growing from his purple to start the last wave.
LazyCap, MNMags and loaner did the final node for me. My Cap is cover-maxed, but level 107 as I wait for other 3*'s to catch up and/or be acquired.
I just threw my top 15 heroes at the SECOND node in the event, and never even dented Doom.
Making the mistake of rostering $ilver $urfer was my first mistake, and rostering OML has proven to be the move that broke my game completely.
I cannot compete in PvP, PvE, and now the one event I was actually looking forward to.
Looks like it’s DDQ (sans the 4* node anyway) from here on out until I [cue raucous laughter] manage to complete and level my 3s and get some 4s going, unless D3 actually steps up and gives us an answer beyond, “don’t open your prizes.”
Good luck to everyone else, and I sincerely hope you enjoy some non-competive MPQ!
Beat the final node with maxed Cyclops (3*), level 160 KK, and a 2/1/1 Ant, max-boosting red/yellow and green/black. Strategy listed elsewhere in here was sound: get through the first round as best you can, then hammer the bad guy early and collect AP while dispatching goons for the other rounds. A big plus was stealing two of Sentry’s sacrifice tiles (and laughing as he self-destructed from the second one) with STC.
My advice: don’t forget to use Ant-man’s powers, even if it’s the loaner. Pym Particles add up, and Crooks can swing the match.
Many thanks to the Hood/3-star Cap tip with the Loaner Ant-Man. I tried with a few other teams, and barely made it through the first match with any of them. Give yourself some red and blue before the match, to help get started with Cap’s abilities. Killing the ninja before triggering any of his Caltrops was definitely helpful, especially before the protect tiles started showing up. After that first round, I didn’t take a point of damage. Even the LVL 70 Ant Man survived, and stealing Daken’s tiles was quite helpful. All of the guys were level 198
Now if only I could get a blue cover for Ant-Man, I’d be quite happy… My Ant-Man is currently a 3/0/3 breakdown.
LCap is the key! My Hood lacks blue covers, and IM40 is under-leveled, but I made it through with 3* Captain Marvel accompanying 3* Steve Rogers. When Capt Marvel is hit hard, she feeds red AP over to Steve. Her black includes a brief stun, and the resulting enemy attack tile can be cleaned up by one of Steve’s shields.
