I currently have fourteen different 3* characters either dead or as close as makes no difference. A couple of them got revived to try again or with different teams, which is why it’s not a multiple of 3, but I’ve tackled this node five or six times without even taking down one of the three baddies.
Two muscles spamming Threaten and Tommy Gun and Juggernaut with cheap red/green moves kinda makes this feel like the first run of Galactus where you’d get to the point that he was going to kill your team by the third or fourth move no matter what.
I just…I’ve cleared the rest of the sub (minus Ghost Rider which I never came close to being in position to earn), but that node? I’ve tackled it five or six times. No joy.
I took a break from composing this post to try a seventh time. AI match-5 cascade killed off two of my characters and the third died when the cascade ended and Juggernaut did the Headbutt-Unstoppable two-step.
Twenty minutes ago, I was having fun. As soon as I finish typing this, I’m going to do my laundry.
That’s right, Demiurge: you’ve managed to create a node which I would rather do laundry than play again. Good job.

Funny, I got that one first try, but A Rocket and a Hard Place? Hood, Bullseye, and a Muscle. Lost twice before beating it with Cyke, Switch, and Daredevil.
Best I can say is good luck on these. Although very tough, they are not the levels of unfair some other things have been. But yeah. I feel your pain.
Both those levels wiped out the only 5 powered up guys I have that even had a chance to compete within a couple minutes. You need to give some sense of hope that I can win if you want me to keep playing instead of beating me down so bad I question whether it’s worth it to keep playing
i surprisingly got through that juggs node on my first try, i was really baffled.
few minutes later against hood, bullseye and muscle everything is back to normal - phone almost thrown, ragequit on point and… a lot of time the next days. i sure as hell wont put up with that whole pve.
if the first sub is THAT annoying, i wouldnt play the whole pve if a fully covered surfer would wait at the end for me.
Level 230 Hood, Bullseye, and Muscle is the opposite of fun - I lost 3 in a row with various proven trios. I haven’t struggled with a PVE node that much in a long time… (Although I DID just roster my first 5*
).
I even came to the forum to make sure I wasn’t the only one finding this node especially difficult. Haha.
Thanks to Thewerebison; Cyke, Switch, and DD won on their first try. And through a small, merciful miracle I was awarded the 1 CP. Yeah, I’m done with that node forever…
I used maxxed (level 166 and powers: 3 black/5 purple/5 green) boosted lvl 240
, boosted lvl 207
(3 yellow / 5 green/ 5 purple; level 145 w/o boost) and maxxed (level 166 and powers 5yellow/5blue/3purple)
. Up against level 211 Juggs and 2 level 212 Muscles…maybe I didn’t get scaled up yet.
I picked out a Muscle and matched 2 quick Blue matches to get Redwing primed for a muscle to throwdown any countdown (CD) tile. Blade started throwing out his
and I matched yellow to boost them and collect for SG’s yellow. matched some purple to prep for Blade’s Keep Enemies Closer attack tiles. Made sure that I had at least 6 strikes out there for max effect and that they couldn’t be matched away immediately by Juggs on next turn.
Once that was all laid down, it made quick work of everyone; was doing around 600 - 1000k per 3-match and then add about ~4000k dmg from Blade’s attack tiles after each turn; Blade took one Headbutt from Juggs but it was way after I laid down SG’s yellow shield tiles and they had been buffed by Falcon’s passive from more yellow matches so that mitigated the blow.
Maybe I had a favorable board and lucky that Juggs didn’t match enough green to spam his board shaking green to erase my attack and strike tiles. I thought next time I’d actively deny green and maybe get sg’s green power involved and if somehow the muscles get their strike tiles out past redwing, I could use them to add damage to her purple as I drop some nuts on Juggs. I’m wondering if I begin with Juggs, whittling him down would take too long and allow the muscles to lay down their strike tiles and let Juggs get some amplified damage in.
I’ll see if this strategy works come grind time tonight around 9-11pm est.
that’s where jean really shines. jean/witch/hood took down level 211 jugs/muscle/muscle with minimal damage taken and jean/witch/someone(cyke maybe?) took the hood/bulls/muscle. that purple is a pve killer.
The team that has worked twice for me with juggs, muscle, muscle is a maxed out cyclops, blade, IF. Boosted, 2x purple/blue, 2x yellow/red. Nearly no damage, nearly no damage, but by skin of teeth…
Focus on juggs, Get black up for cyclops, using IF purple, and take juggs out. Grab the yellow from clops to get blade going. Red/clops and black again ASAP to take out the muscle.
The muscle first timers will be attacks, but those don’t usually hurt until the third… or a tommy gun.
Haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere, but just as a head’s up, the luck be a lady sub is offering 2 CP rewards on each of the usual 1 CP nodes, which is nice (unless it’s a glitch)
I gotta say that the second sub is really enjoyable. Because so many of the nodes are goon-only one clear is very fast - like 10-15 minutes fast, which is very fast indeed (did I say that it’s fast, 'cause it’s fast). And as an added bonus I don’t have to use nearly as many health packs. Joy all around!
