This is not aimed at WB as any kind of criticism. WB continues to post informative and fun stuff in this thread and it is wholly appreciated by me.
But I’m curious if people feel the same way about this as they do about Hawkeye teams.
It’s a turn zero winfinite. It can beat anything even at low levels, which means there’s no real advantage offered to veterans who feel they deserve one for the time and effort they’ve put into building their roster. It’s the same kind of monotonous “do this, do it again, do it again” gameplay. It offers no defensive protection at all. But with cover swaps being available, almost anyone can build this team pretty quickly except for 6Spidey. Yet, there are options besides him you could swap in.
Honest question… do people hate DD and DV? Or is it just losing to a natural 1* that’s so galling?

I never see Darkveil teams, and I can’t remember the last time one hit me. I don’t know why that is. Maybe nobody uses them anymore because of Hawkeye?
I think I’ve seen… Two? I think it’s two different people who use them consistently that I could actually name.
And I assume any low level who consistently cheeses with HE would just look to the next cheese team if he gets nerfed. So, would you hate getting hit by that as much as you hate getting hit by HE teams?

Yep! But I won’t pre-hate something like that. If something changes and it starts showing up constantly, I’ll start hating it then.

Yes it’s a t0 winfinite but there is way faster option to win so if you are looking for placement or “more fun” it’s not the best in my opinion.
I also think it’s fine to have these options (t0 winfinite relatively easy to built) to encourage people to play

It’s in the game now, though. I mean, I asked for your reason and your reason is whatever you say it is, so you did answer my question. It just feels like exactly the same thing to me. Can punch up purely due to being a winfinite, mostly a zero on defense, you don’t have to have played for 10 years to get that team to usable, relies on simple and repeated critical tile generation.

I see. So, yeah, this stuff isn’t great, and I’m not happy that there are 3000 ways for a day 1 player to beat any team of any level without even taking damage.
Does anyone think that’s good? What is the case for “I should be able to start MPQ today and immediately compete with people who spent thousands of dollars, or people who’ve been playing every day for 10+ years.”?
I don’t care about Darkveil now because I don’t see Darkveil now, so either those teams are worse than Hawkeye teams, harder to run, or just less known. Either way, if Darkveil becomes overused to the level Hawkeye is, then those teams will need to be nerfed.
It is pretty obvious that Darkveil has needed nerfing for a long time. And better they nerf them than Kang who can be viable on other teams that require a bit of work to get there and will hurt more players if swatted.
I appreciate the work that you did and it is a great read. However in pvp if I don’t like you than no team is going to make me think twice about trying to hit you lol. There really aren’t meta teams in a defensive sense anymore. Maybe that’s a good thing

Definitely no offense taken, Dark is clearly a hard carry support in my book.
However, there is a very important difference between Dark and Hawk, and that is, Dark needs 2 specific teammates to do what Hawk can do all by himself, and even then, Hawk still does it better.
Darks is still RNG also, even with 2 teammates of the exact same colors, you dont know how much you will get of each. So Darks awkward and slower play definitely leads to people avoiding him. PLUS, there is the thinking aspect, never discount how little the majority seem to want to have to think when playing this game. If Dark didnt send people away, I dont think anyone would touch him, or even know what he does.
I am all for nerfs though, and if they want to start somewhere, they best start with the supports giving all this AP to make these so easy.

You’re technically correct in that HE can go infinite on his own with supports. However, if you ran him without a match damage multiplier of some sort, matches still take forever against anyone with defense, like Juggernaut. This is especially true if he isn’t 550’d and ends up tanking. He really does need a Shang-Chi or Doop as a partner to deal the damage. That’s still better than needing two teammates, I guess. But that still leaves Kangveil.

I don’t really get Zemo. Sometimes the videos are too fast to really follow what’s going on unless you already know. It looks cool, but would you mind explaining in words?

Start him with 6 black plus black on a mutant with Krakoa.
Use Zemos black at the start of the match, this reduces all of your abilities by 3.
Now use your teammates who are better than Zemo to infinite because Zemo is only there to make things cheaper. You can use his other abilities for fun, but it will only slow you down… and won’t be fun.
Using him with any black mutant can go a lot of ways when all of your abilities are 3 cheaper off the bat. Namor3 is naturally very good, Magik3, Moonstkne4, Purpleman4, Goose5 etc etc etc etc etc
