Just my opinion, but I don’t think quests should be given out that aren’t possible to complete.
And yes, I realize I can re-roll, or wait for Ashiok to come out, but that’s still poor design for a DAILY quest. Same goes for the “level a PW” quest for people who have already maxed them out.
If there’s not going to be some sort of roster check to determine if it’s a valid quest… this should probably be removed as a daily objective.
This is the exact sort of quest we specifically asked to not be included in the system, for this exact reason.
And with how expensive re-rolls are you’re basically stuck with a dud quest until it expires or whatever.
I agree these should definitely be removed from the books.
I had a “level a pw 10 levels” quest that I rerolled. As long as there aren’t too many quests requiring a new pw, I’m fine with a reroll, but now I feel like I need to time my next pw purchase with a quest, which also means I have to hold onto a nice pile of crystals, just in case. That timing bit is really what drags on me here, especially if I will need to complete this specific quest to complete the journal.
I would advocate for some “super-quests” available outside the journal rotation like max level-up 50 planeswalkers or master 5,000 cards or master 50 full-art cards. Large-scale stuff to reward those with larger, fuller collections. The numbers I gave here “felt right” but aren’t based on anything.
I had the raise PWs 20 levels quest. Luckily I had two bad Chandra PWs I hadn’t maxed out (which I usually do) and received the quest rewards but still.
yuck.. Im really glad I’m reading this now.. ill make.sure not to level-up one of the walkers I buy when the holiday sale roles around for when (if) the quest system rolls out to everyone.
I agree that this is a poor quest inclusion…Im hoping as we progress through the quest system down the line they have quests geared for veteran players with some insane objectives like:
-have a creature with a1000+ power
-finish the round in 1 turn
-have 100 cards in your graveyard
-win with dealing damage from cards that arnt yours
-make 200 tokens
I agree with this “impossible quest” issue. There needs to be checks and safeguards against getting (or even worse, re-rolling) quests you literally cannot do because of your current state. Nothing like being locked out of rewards and content all because of how you play the game!
I had something like this happen yesterday, got a daily quest where I needed to buy a new PW. Problem is that I have no PWs available to purchase. Thankfully re-rolled it to one where I could complete it on the free re-roll!
I suppose the proper thing to do is just to get rid of the dailies that require specific Walkers, currency investment and so on … they should just focus on gameplay mechanics.
Any daily that ask you to invest currency on something you were not willing to buy in the first place IS a wrong Idea … In particular when a reroll IS that expensive.
Dailies are supposed to be attractive due to their rewards … If you have to sacrifice more than you’ll gain there’s something wrong in the design.
Overall, i see no diference beetween
players that cant do a quest because they already have the Walkers and players that can’t afford buying it. Both should be able to perfom ANY of the quests.
In that perspective the reroll should Also be more of a comfort feature, instead of a Desperate lucky try.
I oddly enough got both the level a planeswalker quest and but a new walker quest, both i felt were a bit unfair. I rerolled the purchase one (it was Monday), but picked up mirror mage, and got the level 10 levels one done. Both I think should be excluded at some point in progression.
It might be fun to have a monthly goal of master x cards, or complete some insane number of matches, eg like 200 matches in the month, which is only like 7 matches per day less than the playing daily to would have, for a decent reward. The rewards are kind of interesting for the beta, it seems like this feature was stuck in dev for a while, a m20 pack?
