Ladies, Gentlemen, and Fellow Gameplayers,

I would like to take the time to point out that there is a difference between “constructive criticism” and outright whining. One of these has been on the rise lately and it is time to just stop with the crap.

As fun as it is to play, IT IS JUST A GAME. Please keep that in mind. If you don’t like it, find a new game.

Here are my responses to the junk some people have been posting:

You: “Waaaahhh. Someone can attack me with boosts while I’m sleeping and take points from me”
Me: Suck it up. It is the nature of PvP. IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT DON’T SLEEP. Do you seriously think that you’re special and the game should stop just because you’re tired? Guess what, you can attack people while they sleep - and with boosts too!

You: “I can’t win the really good rewards in my bracket”
Me: Seriously? Do you expect them to just hand out top prizes to everyone? Maybe you’re not playing enough. Maybe your strategy just plain sucks. If you can’t grind the iso to get a good team, then it is on you - not the developers.

You: “But I don’t have the time to play that much and I don’t have the money to buy HP and ISO-8.”
Me: Boo-freakin-hoo. Hard work is called “hard work” because… well… it is HARD. As with anything in life, you get out what of it what you put into it. If YOU aren’t putting YOUR time or $$ into it, you’re getting EXACTLY what you deserve.

You: “But… but… I get crappy cover packs when I use HP… it isn’t FAAAIIIIRRRRRR…”
Me: Sure its fair. It is the same RANDOM number generator for everyone. If someone has a max level Rag, they either put in more money than you did or were extremely lucky. OH WAIT! The developers probably just hate you and decided to screw you over… that must be it.

You:
Me: Wow. Seriously? Everyone gets C.Storm through gameplay. It isn’t special. If you don’t have it yet, you need to EARN it. And if you can’t figure out how to beat a team with C.Storm on it - you’re stupid. There are lots of posts on gameplay strategy against C.Storm. Try reading before you start complaining.

You: “Allow me to re-spec my cover!!! I want a different power allocation!”
Me: So… this is code for “you screwed up” isn’t it? Guess you need to own up and quit asking for handouts. The character listing and abilities has been posted in Tips & Guides for a month - If you didn’t read it, it’s on you. If you want something different, start a new cover or play with what ya got.

You: “You’re a @SS, Juggerlo.”
Me: No. I’m honest. BRUTALLY HONEST. Why? Because you’re complaining about a game. SOMEONE ELSE’S GAME. I’m sure that the developers that have read your crap have thought some of the same things that I’ve said here - they’re just not able to say them. In short - QUITCHERBITCHIN’ OR GO DESIGN YOUR OWN GAME.

And no… I don’t find this to be hypocritical. I’m complaining about whining, not the game. I love this game, flaws and all.

  • Time zones are an important issue.
  • Heroics are a waste of money.
  • c.Storm is old news. It’s Rags now, get with the times.
  • Skills respecs are asked for because people got screwed over from updates, not their own mistakes.

Complaining about complainers.

This post is about as constructive as your other threads are “funny”.

Time zones aren’t important at all. I’m EST and all of my tourney end at midnight. If I can’t/won’t stay up… that is supposed to be someone else’s fault? It has been said that your bracket is determined by your other bracket performances. If you can’t get high enough points to stay on top, maybe you’re just not up to snuff for your bracket. Try playing crappy in a bracket and get downgraded for the next one.

Like I have said before - if they’re crappy for you, they’re crappy for everyone. Are you playing a unique version of the game? Mine says “preview edition” does your’s say “Screw you edition” ?

Seriously, if they suck that bad, people will stop buying them and the developers will be forced to rework them to make them more attractive.

Or are you expecting every 150HP pack to give you a /* card?

Ouch. Oh - you got me. Burned.

Ok - so if you can’t figure out a strategy to beat Rags, don’t blame me. He’s got high HP, sure but there are easy ways to handle that. If you can’t hack it, press the friggin’ SKIP button. He’s a 3-Star for a reason…

Huh? The only time that anyone was “screwed over” was when they took the power leveling from 50 to 5 (or whatever the math was). I’ll admit, that was kinda bunk - but in all seriousness, that was a long time ago and the requests for respecs are mainly new.

Bracket is determined by when you start the event/complete your first battle.
Matchups are determined by your performance.

Thanks for clarifying. I misunderstood the bracket vs matchup. But either way, random for everyone is random for everyone and puts nobody at a unique disadvantage.

Just saying that evertything being equal, you’re either going to have the team to be at the top or you’re not. Not everyone (Except for maybe TheLadder) can be #1 every time.

I think the vast majority of users here have offered criticism in an informed, polite way. Only a few have done it in a passive-aggressive, whiny kind of way.

Those are the people you need to call out directly when they do it.

I agree completely. There is a lot of very constructive criticism and the Devs have been amazing with their responses to it. I have noticed a number of ideas that have been included or have been mentioned that they might be included in future updates.

As for calling them out - I’ve seen IceIX lock a few of them, but he is just one man. As for the rest… well… they will probably call themselves out by complaining in this thread. People will only be upset about whats been said if they’re guilty of saying it. icon_lol.gif

We all get beat sometime. You are one of the top players though… I’ve been in brackets with you and all I can think is “crap.”

I agree that whining is not very pleasant, but a lot of the issues addressed are not trivial. Balance is a good thing. It’s hard to tell whether your post attacks the complainers or the complaints themselves.

For example, respecs. I can’t see how, if implemented well, can be a bad thing. It may not be a top priority, but if more people speak up and voice their opinion, then certainly the devs would reconsider it’s priority. Are you trying to tell me that respecs are bad and you don’t want them in the game?

You say that timezones are unimportant and you are EST? IIRC, Ladder is UTC so he plays at 4am just to win tournaments. You are telling me that you yourself would do the same? And that it’s perfectly fine to expect other people to do the same? I mean, props to those that do it, but IMO, it’s definitely something that could be improved.

Well, mostly the complaints. Some of them have been - in my opinion - really a-holeish. What I’m trying to say is that people need to be constructive in their suggestions, no rude.

Yes, part of it is aimed at some people as well. They post things on here acting like they’re the only one in the game who is at a disadvantage facing a Level 80+ Rag. Do they seriously need whine about it in 8 different threads over 3 topic areas? Sheesh… icon_rolleyes.gif

Not at all. As I’ve said previously, I’m tired of hearing about how people didn’t spec their cover right (their fault) and they want the Devs to fix it.

I agree that respecs could be useful, but the implementation would have to be flawless. My biggest hurdle with it is that it allows people who screwed their covers to then be on par with me when I did it right and have no need to respec. It offers an easy fix (depending upon the cost) for people to overcome their own lack of planning. It seems unfair to the players that did it right.

As for the major update overhaul on power allocation, yeah… I would LOVE to have the chance to respec my IM mk35!!!
