I hate complaining but this is becoming extremely frustrating. I was hoping to be in the Top 50 to earn 2 Hoods, and I stayed within the Top 30-40 until all of a sudden this morning I dropped way down to 120!
Players grinded more than me, fine. What I am frustrated about is that people in my alliance who have scores on par with mine are Top 5-25. Even my friend who lives down the road from me, is top 25 and he has 30k less points than me! Perhaps I picked the “wrong” bracket but this constant grind to earn high scores to not even be ranked the same as members in my alliance is unfair. This has been consistent for the past few seasons and I am tired of it.
Anyone have any suggestions or feedback? I’m curious if other players run into this similar problem.
I get how you feel, but that’s how it ends up being. One of my alliance teammates is fighting for top 3…with less than 30k points than I do. Just looks like you got into a more competitive bracket. Happens man
A global ranking system would be awesome but I dont know if they use the in season or prior performance rankings already in determining your pools so…I dont know.
I play the bracket meta-game myself. Checking the forums to see when a bracket fills and then joining the event a day or two after it starts. This places me in a bracket of people who are inherently less competitive outside of maybe the top 20 spots.
More importantly, my score would be substantially lower and yet yield a better relative placement. This doesn’t mean I no longer have to grind…but it means I’m likely putting in a LOT less effort than an early joiner to get the same outcome (except missing out on the ISO/HP for the first sub or two).
It’s my guess that this is what you’re seeing.
I can’t say that this design choice is particularly good or healthy for the game but it’s certainly better than what we had before. I suppose the only ‘fair’ competitive PvE would be to have one and only one MEGA bracket. Still have time slices. Then reward prizes based on tier percentages of the entire player pool. For example: Top 2% get 4* cover. Top 3-10% get the 3x 3* covers…so on and so fourth.
That would make MY life a lot more difficult but it would reward effort with prizes fairly.
This event, during the “Rescue Nick Fury” sub, has crazy rubberbanding on the survival nodes.
Last time this event ran, I dropped from 50 to back past rank 150, because I only did 2 of 4 final clears on the last 2 survival waves. They were tossing out 10K + points per clear each last time this event ran. Right now, the ones in my sub, are offering 6k and 6.7K.
So clearing them in the last two hours may save your ranking.
The last sub of any PvE event is generally worth a lot more points than the rest. I didn’t see any unusual amount of rubberbanding compared to previous events, but when the last sub has 2 survival nodes that start in the 3-4K range, it doesn’t take much rubberband for those nodes to dominate your overall score.
Yes PvE has newbie brackets. I had an alt that I used to use to work out how the rubberband worked. They never got into the same main as Sumilea and the winning scores where not even in the same ball park. It must be one hell of a shock when they get promoted into the old timers bracket.
