Red Response to the King Pin nerf please (CS reponse 3/4/16)

After reading and learning more. I’m wondering if nerfing KP and DP was the intended effect, they didn’t care, oh crap we will fix that in R142?

Could we please get a timely response?

We apologize for any confusion or misunderstanding regarding this change, but we would be more than happy to clarify the changes since Green Goblin (Normal Osborn) has been released. Many characters that have destroyed their countdown tiles simply remove their countdown tiles instead. For example, then change to Kingpin (Wilson Fisk) no longer destroys the countdown tile, but instead turns it back into a Basic Tile.

Due to this, many combinations and functions no longer work with each other. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We apologize for any confusion or misunderstanding regarding the issue. To clarify, the powers were not changed due to an issue that would arise. Instead, the changes were made to prevent Green Goblin (Normal Osborn) becoming to powerful with specific combinations, as these characters would essentially gain their second benefit without. Simply put, we nerfed Green Goblin (Normal Osborn) before he was released, and do apologize if this nerf indirectly affected other character combinations that you had experienced.

I didn’t even think about it since I don’t have them at a usable level, but are you saying that now that KP’s black doesn’t destroy the countdown, if you use it with 4*DP, you don’t get the damage from DP’s Countdown for What?? Because that sucks big time! That was one of the more interesting combos and it certainly wasn’t OP…

Edit: Also, I feel like there are a number of other viable solutions to the whole Fortified countdown issue that would’ve been better than what they chose.

So in the patch they are addressing the issue so if KP destroys a Count down for What tile while it is fortified it will still do the damage and convert the tile compared to destroying it. Is this really a big nerf it still does the damage, and in the release they said Goblin would not go well with XFDP

It doesn’t take away Kingpins damage, it takes away DPs CDFW damage because you’re no longer “destroying” it.

So I just tried it, and it looks like since KP’s black no longer destroys the CD tile, it actually doesn’t do the damage for Deadpool. It’s now like what happens if Falcon/Cap overwrite the tile. It doesn’t matter if the tile’s fortified or not. That is a pretty big nerf, so it would be nice to know if that’s the new normal or not.

I was running R&G, DP, KP since he was boosted and it was a nice rainbow team, but I kept noticing I wasn’t doing the DP tile damage. I had just glanced over the changes they were making due to fortify. This really is just terrible.

There are multiple fixes, and the easiest two would be go back to before, or allow Deadpool’s tiles to go off if removed period. That however creates another problem as now JG, Cap and Falcon would take dmg by doing that. Being a fan of DP I say that would be okay.

However, the way it should be working with Fortify tiles is.

If a CD tile is fortified and KP tries to blow it up, all it would do is destroy the fortify with no bonus dmg. Since this would keep the fortify tile working as intended and KP’s working as intended.

Same with Iceman, if you fortified his blue CD and you second cast, you would just destroy the fortify and deal no dmg. Fortify needs to work both ways, as a plus and a minus, doing what they did made a bigger problem then the one they were trying to fix.

That’s because you want the tile destroyed, so you don’t want to protect it. That comment has nothing to do with things like interaction with KP.

I agree 100%. My second two maxxed 4*'s (after HB and JG) were KP and XDP - largely because I really liked this combo. I noticed it within a few hours of the update and submitted a bug report before I realised that it was an ‘intended’ change.

This KP nerf (removing a tiny bit of board shake) and KP-XDP combo nerf (really, really annoying) should be addressed. Even if just to say that Demiurge aren’t going to restore the combo - I’d really like an official response.

Kingpn + XF Deadpool was one of the nicer bits of synergy on the 4* tier; a good way to fuel Wilson’s Gambit with a neat side effect. I’m always against changes that remove interesting combos.

Though I guess the dev’s answer will be “you were always meant to use Maggia Pawns to get the bonus damage from Wilson’s Gambit, anything else is unintended”…

This is a pretty liberal use of the word “nerf”.

Did y’all contact Customer Service?

Apparently, they have been amazing, lately.

You’re kidding me right? You call this a nerf? It’s only the specific interaction of Kingpin and Deadpool out of the hundred++ of characters out there. Kingpin ability itself was not nerfed.
Nerfed was when Scarlet Witch took a PhaserHex Bolt to the knee.

The thing is you 1000% know they either don’t care. They went with the quick programming fix and wouldn’t surprise me if they are finding out now that the quick fix destroyed a top tier combo.

However they won’t likely do anything because he still works with himself and every other character that leaves a cd tile but DPx

If the way you use it no longer gives you the damage it used to, then yeah, it’s a nerf.

IS this a Top Tier combo?

Like, I’ve always seen xDP/Thing as the top tier combo for him, and xDP/XFW after. And even then they’re still second to THE top tier combo that needs not be named. And the 5* Tier above them.

In terms of dmg per ap, yes it was. It’s not as damaging as xforce/DPx combo but it’s darn close. In the last balance of power it was doing almost 17k total

Guys, it’s just easier to break existing characters and mechanics than it is to properly implement new ones.

The list of shenanigans in this games surrounding CD tiles makes me thing it’d be better to just delete CD tiles entirely. The devs simply can’t formulate nested conditional statements.

Yeah, but XForce lets you do it while also having a (admitedly not great, but still pops CDFW in case of a no black/heavy purple board) Green ability instead of two characters fighting for Purple.

Is XFDP/Thing more of a Defense/Floating team, then?

xp/thing is pretty annoying to take down. not impossible or even that difficult, but unless you bring a stunner (like ice or 4thor) you will take retal from damage from xp because thing basically requires that you take him down first, and in doing that, will get some retal damage from xp. and, if you have a very good third, it becomes tough because its best to take down thing/xp first. so any of the top tier as a third becomes tricky to handle unless you can stunlock 1 to take down the other 2. would be a good team on d and I plan on using them in LRs once I get them champed, they are next after I finish 4thor. they would be a hassle than many would skip over in LRs.

I didn’t realize this no longer does the damage to CD to what. I thought the damage would still go through. Now I understand what the OP was talking about and agree XFDP and KP combo definatly got nerfed. I just have not used that combo since the update.
