I don’t know why you include Polaris as a Fan Favorite. She is no longer popular. You destroyed her popularity when you unwisely re-balanced her.

She is still very popular, and I still see her often when I start PvP and sim. Her rebalancing barely changed her, same with mthor, and both of them can still do exactly what they always did, just ever so slightly slower than before.
You can still easily beat level 800 enemies with her. I was using her on heroic pve when x-men was the requirement and even unboosted she had no issue taking down enemies 300 levels higher than her
I still use her a lot and teamed with MThor she is a powerhouse - it has changed very little for me
I recently ascended my Polaris during the X-Men heroic. My take is that she’s just about usable as a 4 star these days but she’s very good as a 5.
Rebalances to overperforming characters are necessary for the game to remain healthy. Quit if you want. That said, Shang-Chi should be quite far down the list of characters most in need of being dialled down.

After the DESTRUCTION of Polaris so that she can now only wreck teams slightly less quickly, if you touch Shang Chi, if you harm a single hair on his head then TAKE HEED I will not only quit but I will travel back in time and ERASE you from existence. I used to deploy SC almost every match, but since the prevalence of 1-5 HE and Toad with the right supports,he is fast becoming irrelevant… Still fun to use, though, and requires constant user input to make him shine (AI is borderline stupid when using him). So, I believe there’s no need to change him. 
You think the Devs aren’t out to get us?!?!? You think we are “crazy”? Well look at this:

Must be a new Forum user because otherwise they’d have already quit given that Shang-Chi has already been targeted for a re-balance back in December time frame. 
That said, the Devs are in a lose-lose proposition with their nerfs to popular characters. Changes to Polaris and MThor were not popular with a large segment of players while another segment cheered it. The blow back was almost certainly lessened by the fact the state of the game was so bad (crashes, freezing, speed) and that they created a new stronger meta with 1 star Hawkeye so many were able to seamlessly switch characters.
That may not happen the next time and the player base may (likely) will shrink further.

Gambit and Chasm were both very popular, had tons of player resources and real money invested into them, and their nerfs undeniably made the game better. Some players quit when those nerfs happened, and both changes were accompanied by some of the same “game is dying”/“everyone I know is quitting” FUD we’re seeing now. The game didn’t die.
Characters who are nerfed will always be popular, because why would they need to dial back an unpopular character?
