Replacing creature causes game freeze [Investigating]

Situation:

  • I am playing Elspeth

  • I have Aryel and a Soldier token from Elspeth’s first ability

  • There are two white and one black activation gem from Aryel on board

  • There is one green exert gem from the Soldier token
    Trigger:

  • I use Elspeth’s 3rd ability to destroy 2 activated gems

  • One of the gems activated is a white gem, one is the exert gem
    What happened:

  • The green gem’s effect triggered properly and destroyed the enemy’s first creature

  • Then, the white gem’s effect appeared on screen

  • I clicked the confirm button to replace one of my creatures with the Dominaria’s Knight token (I chose the Soldier token)

  • After that, the Soldier token disappeared, but no Knight token appeared

  • The gems did not fall down

  • No “loading” swirl

  • I could still open my hand

  • I could open the bottom menu, battle log, and the quit menu

This should already be known, by the way.

I’ve had it happen twice for me alone yesterday : it can always happen when you replace a creature, be it from casting a creature, spawning a token (via ability, card effect, exert), or stealing an enemy creature.

Sometimes, you can still access your hand and everything apart from matching gems, sometimes there is a red spinning wheel and you can’t do anything

A similar bug happened to me today, also with elspeth. I tried to replace one of my creatures with her soldier tokens out (note: I was not replacing the soldiers) and got an immediate freeze.

Playing H2 in today’s Golgari Rising Tensions, 1st creature = Zacama, 2nd creature = vampire token from Queen’s Commission, 3rd creature = saproling from Spore Swarm. Cast Gather the Pack and get a Ghalta in hand that gets cost reduction from creatures to free cast, game asks which creature I want to replace, I pick vampires, box goes away, nothing happens on the board, the game stops progressing, and I can’t do anything besides open the menu and view log (which did not show Ghalta being cast as expected) or quit.

Just got a freeze on Rising Tensions because I tried to replace one of Elspeth’s Soldier tokens.
