Just for those wondering, here are the total number of story battles:

Ch 1 part 1: 16
Ch 1 part 2: 12
Ch 2 part 1: 14
Ch 2 part 2: 13
Ch 3 part 1: 12
Ch 3 part 2: 12

Heroic:
Intro: 5
Each hero (5): 5 each (25 total)

Total story battles: 109

So, given that they changed it so that each 2nd level objective no longer gives 8 crystals and instead gives 250 runes, that means: 872 fewer crystals and 27250 more runes.

The optimist in me thinks that they are doing this in preparation of some way of milling or buying cards or something like that.

The pessimist tells me to stop playing as I already have pretty much every card I need, and see no point in gathering runes.
