Scaling Tied To S.H.I.E.L.D. Clearance Levels (5/25/17)

First reducing CPs from progress reward in exchange for boost of max rewards and now this?
I do everything at 50% (tm. 4* cover from progress PvE and 575 in PvP) which is still 2 hours each day - more is basically unbearable for people with regular life (work + different hobbies, or work + family).
This is not regular online game like LoL or WoT where you can play with friends and each game is kinda unique… dont force us to spend hours each day, especially when rewards are so poor (20 days, 2 hrs each day - voila, ONE 4* cover maxed… and yet almost useless in CP8)

SCl1 - 30
SCl2 - 55 (+25)
SCl3 - 84 (+29)
SCl4 - 140 (+56)
SCl5 - 180 (+40)
SCl6 - 230 (+50)
SCl7 - 260 (+30)
SCl8 - 400 (+140)

I fear to see SCL9 now. Why not +40-50 for SCL8 and release this alongside SCL9???

It could be their plan is that when SCL 9 comes out they’ll back off some on SCL 8 back to that and have a big jump between 8 & 9. At least I hope, if not this is really stupid.

I really don’t understand why the level increase is so big for SCL8. Or why there is one at all. I was able to make it through The Hunt largely because one of my 3 champed 4* (Kate Bishop) was boosted. I’m guessing I will have no boosted 4*'s in Unstable Iso-8, so I’ll be looking at having to fight enemies 129 levels above my best characters. I can’t even fathom that being possible. It looks impossible to get the max progression to get any CP which is so backloaded now, so I will almost assuredly have to drop down to SCL7.

Between the new backloaded reward structure and the sharp difficulty increase in SCL8, there really needs to be some form of explanation from the Devs. Right now we’re all wondering why these changes are occurring, because none of them really seem logical on the surface. There might actually be good reasons for them, but we have no idea what they are because they aren’t obvious. If they were obvious, a lot of these angry discussions on the forums wouldn’t be happening. I honestly can’t think of a reason to knock players out of SCL8 and deny them the rewards they would normally earn. We’re sitting here puzzled and getting no explanations, which just makes it worse and makes everyone more angry. There really needs to be some PR work done so that any of this makes sense and we get some idea of why these punishments are occurring. Because at the end of the day, these do feel like punishments.

Edit: In thinking further, this could actually make sense if the goal is to make the 5 star characters that a lot of us have but won’t level useful. We can level them up and not have the scaling increase to punish us accordingly. However, if this is correct, it’s a very flawed test because of the fact that we CAN’T level them up. Yes, we can use them for this test, and then we go back to getting punished after the test is over. Which means there is zero incentive do so because we only get seriously hurt for it afterwards. If that is the goal, you really need to reconsider how this test is run.

This is probably going to be similar to the last time they futzed with the difficulty of PvE way back when. It’ll probably be test - tweak - test - tweak - test - tweak - test - tweak - permanent over the course of a couple months.

So I wouldn’t freak. I would give constructive feedback though as often as possible. Not just “it’s too hard” or “this sucks,” but “this is too hard because x,y,z” or “This would be better with a,b,c” More info given, more likely the tweaks that do happen will actually favor the players.

I only have a handful of 4*, but I am sure I could do level 400 stuff without a huge issue. it would just be a long grind and need to use some health packs.

that being said. even if I could easily take down level 400 enemies, why would I bother with the extra time and energy for a trivial increase in rewards compared to killing a bunch of level 260 enemies in far less time?

Quite frankly I am happy where the SCL7 enemies cap right now, but SCL8 should be capping at around 325 or so.

I fully expect though their solution will be to increase the cap on everything but SCL8 so that 7 ends up going to like 350 so that anyone without some decent 4* characters will likely have to drop down to 6 or even lower.

They’ve talked about it long ago and it addresses many complaints of players. With this, you could be a 2* player having a high 5* and your scaling wouldn’t be penalized for it.

I haven’t play in scl7 since I got to scl8 and I can guarantee I’ll be going back down for this event.

Agreed. My gut reaction is that this test will cause a lot of migration from CL8 to CL7, myself included most likely. I only have champed 4*s and where my lvls used to top out at 322 I now get to fight lvl 400? Yeah, no thanks!

Sorry for sounding negative without having even tried this, but it feels like this is more of a step back than a step forward. Please reconsider… pretty please? o:)

What worries me is the trial run part
It will run once, most will love it, then it will disappear for a month only to return with major changes

Seems like a good change for those with mature rosters. Softcappers will never get 1st place again

Have they thought through alliance scoring ? Anything preventing me from noobstomping a SCL1 bracket cause I only have 20 minutes to devote to PvE some event but want an insane score for alliance mercing ?

SCL3 or 4 might still be a one turn win…

Its a guarantee I do this at least once, if just to test it out.

Woohoo!

I’ma wreck cl7.

Great change D3!

@Brigby

My max enemies now are around 316, so if I do SCL8 for this event they will go to 400? Why is 8 so much higher?

The leap from 6 to 7 isn’t much but from 7 to 8 is massive.

currently my scaling is such that enemies max out around level 465, so this is a welcome change… I think (if I understand it correctly)
465 is just brutal in PVE sometimes matches take 10-15 minutes each and is incredibly draining, especial vs daken and bullseye , if this works as it’s intended too it could shave hours off of my time spend in pve

NICE!

At least it’s not Venom Bomb?

lol this should come with a splash screen warning SCL7 players to prep themselves for level 550 champs to come obliterate their bracket…

SCL8 being too tough for my roster at level 84ish isn’t even going to be the issue, its gonna be whales destroying the exact same nodes I’m trying to clear in SCL7… still at least this is exciting…

@Brigby
the problem is that have a max level of 400 in SCL8 will cause more players to play SCL7 than normal. This will throw off the numbers is give the devs a false return. It would be a better test to max opponent levels at 300, which will allow players to play SCL8 that would normally.

@deadtaco
Only the Hardest mission will have the max potential to go up to 400. This also depends on the node’s starting difficulty though, since starting mission difficulty can be any number within the range listed on the chart. This is something in particular the development team will watch for feedback on.

Im gonna go CL8 and just win by default. no one will be in there.
