Slow work day and I was curious, so I took the wonderful work Nonce and Flare have done archiving the rankings over the seasons, and started compiling that data. I have no idea if this is interesting to anyone but me, but I did the work, so figure I’ll put it out there for public consumption.
Here’s the first graph I came up with. Average seasonal scores for some key cutoffs:
Then adjusting those on a per event basis. Because there’s no archive of Sim scores, they’re averaged into each event, which makes them all probably 100-200 pts higher than they should be. Example: top 100; season 8 averaged 8641/10 events = 864 per event. But reality is ~700 per event + ~1641 in Sim is more likely what happened.
Pretty interesting, what i take away from this is that the hardcore players are scoring higher and the average score is steadily dropping from what i can only assume is because of people losing interest in the game.
Updating the graph with seasons 9 and 10. As I somewhat expected, the effect of cooldowns was at the top end, the requirements of top 100 remained mostly unchanged.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the first few seasons weren’t all the same number of events. IIRC, season 4 may have been the season with 13 events instead of the current 10 events per season. I can explain what happened to the top score (X-men). From season 5-8, the increase is probably attributable to shield hopping more effectively. In season9, we lost some high scorers, which impacted our season score. The drop in season 10 for the Crew is of course due to shield cool downs.
Good to know. Yeah, I’ll update the 2nd graph with the per event scores shortly. Still wish there was an alliance scoreboard for Sim, would make it easier to understand the actual PvP scoring.
See above. First four seasons were more events, so obviously higher scores. I’ll update the 2nd graph tonight which has the per event data
Weird. I have experienced an increased difficulty attaining top 25. When sometimes it was possible to get it with as low as 650 points, nowadays going over 800 still is not a guarantee of top 25.
Same for me…i think its probably a result of two things. Firstly your MMR increases with your achievements so you are placed in harder brackets, and secondly theres more vet rosters in the game with XF etc so the pool is deeper.
Definite drop in scores across the board with the Sentry nerf and shield cool downs. I wish we could get the raw data for the t100 alliances on a per event basis for all 11 seasons. That would be cool.
