Earlier, it was conclusively voted by the community that Kiora, Nahiri, and Sorin are considered the three “Best” multi-coloured Planeswalkers, taking ~92% of the votes between them.
But where does this leave the others? Using the same sorts of criteria,
Equal access to relevant important Mythics and Rares,
Colour coverage,
Cost to purchase,
Mana gains,
Abilities,
and just being fun to play,
Which Planeswalker do you consider the “Best” of the ones remaining?
Now that Alve has set up the missing Planeswalker strategy threads, I’d be interested in seeing decks for them. It will bias my intent to buy the ones I’m missing.
Saheeli. The color combination and mana gains are too much to deny, especially with Startled Awake.
Second, I’d have to pick Ajani. He has two of the best pw abilities, is consistent with mana regardless of board state, and has access to the great red/white coombination that Nahiri also shines with.
Sarkhan is a personal favorite, but he struggles with mana at times. Thankfully, red and black have cheap, efficient spells, but in a world full of Deploys and 12/12 creatures, he isn’t able to keep up in terms of sheer speed and power in PVP. In PVE events, he can still perform strongly.
Sarkhan does have a lot of access to cheap kill/damage spells that you can keep cycling through, thanks to harness the storm and/or Shreds of sanity. Combine with zombies and devils, you can make a cheap quick efficient deck. He also does decently well with the energize mechanic.
Definitely. Sarkhan Harness is actually one of my very favorite decks, and he was an all-star during the “summon 3000 eldrazi” objectives.
It’s the “I just deployed 36 power to the board, your turn” type of response that he’s starting to fall behind at, because if he isn’t holding removal in hand, he can’t generate threats or answers fast enough to overcome them.
Voted based on speculation for Saheeli even though I don’t have her. Her mana gains are impressive especially compared to other two color planeswalkers and the options for red/blue look incredibly powerful.
That said the others often are conditionally good. Arlinn is one of my strongest planeswalkers, but I got lucky and have every werewolf card so I’m able to make a deck that best uses her abilities.
Dovin is the same story for me. Also incredibly strong if you can make good use of energize for him, but it’s card-dependent.
Arlinn is fun to play, but she’s not one of the strongest.
Sarkhan, with access to red and black, is solid.
But if you have the mythic Dragons, Sarkhan is top tier.
Sarkhan’s 3rd ability is a game-winner w Dragons.
Cost 6, returned a spell, then blew up gems creating cascades.
It meant that with the right spells you could cover your creatures in broken glass (+1/+0) repeatedly, put out endless supply of 4/4 payback imps, discard all their spells and void all their gems, and so on, all the while pumping Zada’s friends by +6/+6 per spell.
