The pay wall has gone up, and Jon’s not coming to save the free folk anytime soon.
They even nerfed the drop rate. That ensures the only real way to get masterpiece or mythics, is the subscription

Yes. It’s in the patch notes. Masterpieces are a 0.07% chance, mythics are about 1.4% and rares reduced from 21% to 6%…
Things are a bit different … The tons of mythics/mps that players got was a bug … The bug is now fixed … If you start to pay now, you will get the same underwhelming pulls as always …
Let’s say it would rather be a “pay on the release day”-to-win game …
So glad I refrained from buying this time around. Knew about the windfalls, but also remember their track record with the game, transparency, and honesty feel locking new slots behind a monthly sub is a low blow. Not to mention bugs and crashes.
Patch notes say this is for the packs you get from Player Level progression rewards. This does not impact the packs in the vault or given from events. Honestly not worth worrying about with everything else that is wrong right now.
But they have already changed the basic 5 card standard booster. That we receive as reward.

With free folk only there is nor seven or six kingdoms. There were is not even one. Remember this!
MTG has always been pay to win. Look at paper. You’re telling me that it’s not the king of pay to win games? Sure you’ve gotta have skill but the guys with money and skill will crush those without money.
This change in drop rates is only for the boosters you gain when leveling up I think
But those paper cards are actually worth something 
I wouldn’t say it’s the KING. Maybe the Knight. Certainly you need to pay money to win in tournaments, especially since they introduced mythics.
One major difference is that you can buy any card you want in paper MTG on the secondary market.
