Gonna be all over the place here. Not being whiny, just want to know how this game was envisioned to be consumed/played/obsessed over.

Few thing first of where I am. I’m on day 234, I have 37 Roster slots

I have a 141 Punisher ~100 Classic Magneto, Spiderman, IM40, Hulk. 90 Daredevil, Hood, 89 Black Panther, Patch. 85 Ares, Thor, Storm, Wolverine

Now, I have to fight like heck to break the top 50 in most tournys and have never won a tourny in my bracket, and never finished higher than 1000 in a lightning round. Is that the game working as intended?

3 Stars, they are cool. I’ve read IceX’s comment thread where he mentions something to the effect that they are supposed to be rare. That’s cool, but why do I run in to teams of 141 maxed out Lazy Thors, etc and when I look at the leaders in brackets they have whole teams of 141 3 stars. To my eyes that looks impossible for me to compete against. Or, is that the system working as it was designed to work. Because to my eyes it seems wrong. The worse part is that it’s not really a P2W thing, because even if I payed there is no way for me to compete.

Personally, I don’t really want any of the 3stars and feel pressured to buy slots for them. I have Steve Rogers, Torch, Lazy Thor, Lazy Daken, Falcon, Sentry, IW, X-Force and Rags, just sitting. I can’t use them, cant’ get buy cover because I do not have all of the powers. So what good are they? I just want to know what the vision is. Why have these heroes in a players roster and there not be a viable game play mechanism to use them? If it’s as simple as me “Sucking Less”, I’ll take that. At least I’ll know it’s because I’m a poor player.

I’ve won 2 10packs in both seasons, and I pull nothing but 2’s. That’s not a whine just a fact. So I sell them for ISO to level up my remaining 2stars, but what does that do for me? I’m still competing against tricked out 3stars. Should I instead be focusing on getting all of my 2stars to 85? I don’t know if I’m playing wrong.

So to sum it up. How is this game designed to be played? Should I be satisfied with top 40-50 finishes? Ok, once I finished 22. Or, am I missing something?

When Ice was answering questions I asked him if there were any plans for making the game friendlier for those who play more casually than competitively. He said they were looking into the nature of the 3* transition but did not comment on the casual vs competitive part of my question.

As it stands now, it seems like you are either extra competitive or you are merely playing a shiny match 3 game in your free time but cannot expect to progress into a 3* team at all, but are expected to fight against 3* teams

From what I can see, many players who don’t need 3-star covers are stealing them from those that do.

My best advice for if you want to win 3-star covers would be to already have maxed out 3-stars in the first place.

I’ve played a good portion of this season “casually” …my rewards were basically nothing. So yea, especially if you aren’t super new, you are not winning without a bunch of work.

They really need a more casual mode to the game. I enjoyed the prologue, its why I kept playing at first, they need something similarly less stressful for ppl to play who are casual minded. Requiring ppl to compete 24/7 leads to burnout. They need a place where ppl can kinda just sit and play a few matches when they don’t want to be pushing 2 hrs solid for a good reward. I mentioned a boss mode, but a story mode of old stories with monthly progress reward and no vs aspect would be a simple addition I think.

This is so sadly true. Reckless probably has trashed ssoooo many 4 and 3 star covers just because she is scoring for seasons. It’s the same with probably 70% of the top 10 out there. Les so, now that they death bracket, but still kinda sad. It asnt like that before alliances though. Ppl were kind AMD didn’t gen rewards they didn’t need. Now you ha r to worry about someone grabbing a score to earn one cover for thier team basically. Net outcome? Fewer covers going to mid level players than ever before. Add that to lowered drop rates, no more 3*** lr, weakened reward structures for progress, and less hp given out…and the game is harder to progress in if u are new. Certainly possible, jist not without a lot of hard work and time. Not to say it didn’t before, but certainly not to the extent it does now.

Burnout has probably helped lower lvl players (elite burnout) so there are silver linings I guess.

Have to agree with Soenottelling. The Alliance and Season systems have made me place well in events where I don’t need the 3* covers (read just about every event this season unless it was a newer hero).

Basically I aim to grab 1k ish points (or 1.1k in the sentry events for the cover) and am not particularly interested in where I place in my bracket, just the absolute points total. It just so happens that 1k ish points has put me comfortably in the top 10 of every PvP bracket i’ve been in for season 2. That means I’ve essentially trashed 3 3* covers in almost every event for season 2.

I have a lot of sympathy for people trying to transition to 3* heroes. D3 have made a lot of changes which have hurt you guys a lot although terrible token drop rates and to a much greater degree the MASSIVE nerf to lightning round rewards (did I mention how MASSIVE it was?) probably have at least as much impact as increasing PvP competition through alliances and seasons.

Bottom line I guess is if you want established 3* rosters to stop taking 3* covers they don’t need you’ll have to exempt some PvP events from BOTH alliance rewards as well as season points totals. Since I don’t see that happening i’m not really sure what the solution is…

(Lightning rounds used to give guaranteed covers for the featured hero in top placements much like PvP does still although no alliance part and tokens which were a guaranteed 3* hero (or villain if a villain LR). Compare that to the current rewards…)

In Season 1, I was pretty gung-ho about Season points, so I went for 1000+ in every PVP, even the stupid ones near the end. In Season 2, if I don’t need any covers (like in the current PVP) and don’t want the 1100-point progression cover, I just go for placement-reward HP.

To accelerate your progression, the best thing you can do (if you haven’t already done so) is to join a Top 100 alliance. Barring token luck and HP expenditures, those 141 LTs were created with the help of alliance reward covers.

Steal is a little strong, but that’s essentially correct. The way Alliance rewards were strutured, led to a big increase in people winning unneeded covers. And then the introduction of seasons intensified it. It’s almost as if the intention was to make as many rewards as useless as possible, for SOME reason.

Yeah, that’s pretty much me in every PVP in season 2.
And about 75% in the top 25 alliances, so that’s quite a lot of covers that get sold.
There’s not much you can do about it, though - unless every alliance stops scoring “normal” points all of a sudden, you’ll need some people going for 1000+ each tourney yourself, else your alliance might find itself outside of t100 faster than you think.

Honestly, I suggest just taking a break from the game if you feel that it’s not going to benefit you doing anything. Please other games. I’ve found plenty of time to game on my PS4 and was completely captivated playing Destiny yesterday. I’ve also been enjoying Hitman go a lot. I hopped on the game to grab a quick 300 points in the PvP for token which completed covers for a 3* but I’m probably going to be on Destiny again tonight instead of worrying about MPQ.

Thanks for the replies, guess I’ve found the “End Game”. Not quitting, but it looks like I’m in limbo as far as progression. Not low enough level to place well against others. But too high level to place with more ravenous players in more competitive brackets. I just wanted to know if the devs intended players to get to this point and start paying money. Or are they aware of players being in the position I’m in.

I’m aware that most of us in the forums aren’t representative of the user base. We are the fringe guys that probably care a bit too much about the game. I’m sure the majority of the MPQ base are not even aware that a forum exists and probably wouldn’t bother to drop by.

Seasons have definetely screwed players over because as you said, people have to play even though they are gonna scrap the rewards. Even alliances taking a 3rd cover that use to go to the lone wolf really sucks, but that is at least tolerable as they usually are fairly quick to hand out that cover in the following PvP in new character releases. I honestly beleive alliances should just help you get HP and ISO not covers, thus promoting alliances but not making it a necessity. Also going with the motto of people are stronger in groups them by themselves. If seasons was for say 1000 HP instead of Nick Fury I think the PvP’s would be a little less cuthroat.

As far as the seasons go, I think the alliance rewards are what everyone is focusing on. The 10-packs have been pretty worthless lately so why grind PVP and the simluator to get a 10-pack or 2 with a bunch of worthless 2*. Granted that would be 5K iso for two 10-packs and I would just rather have that than the 2*.

Being that I am in the middle of my 2-3* conversion, the only way that I found to score decently in PVP is to grind as high as I can and use the 24hr shield as close as I can to 24hrs left. Being attacked by max 3* teams and a 212 featured character is horrible. At least if I am shielded for the last 24hrs, I will only get hit with retals and hopefully end up winning some. For example, with Magnetic Mayhem, I shielded at 24hrs, went to bed and woke up with +78 points in defensive wins. So it is always an option for anyone that can’t place well in the last 8hrs.

Up until the introduction of alliances, season 1 and 2 I was progressing really well, hitting top 50 -100 in PvP and pve events and managing to obtain my 3* covers. Well that’s changed big time, I have many 3 star covers but none that I can level to their max potential as I cannot get far enough in the PvP events anymore, I get so far and then get smacked about constantly by herds of 141s losing big points. I enjoy playing the game and consider myself to be a fairly competitive person but when it gets to the point that you are forever in libo and not progressing as you should be, it does make me wonder, what’s the point in continuing.

As for alliances receiving covers for say top one hundred placement, I feel that is not right, another kind of reward should be given. We middle tier players are struggling here and it’s just not right. There has to be progression for all tiers other wise this game is going nowhere fast. For the person who posted this thread, I so totally understand your frustration. icon_e_biggrin.gif
