Why do I want jewels? the chance for masterpieces are so low that there’s no point aiming for them, and if all else I’m gonna get are dupes or trashy mythic then whats in it for me?
Why bother trying for a good placement in boring annoying PvP events? Why should I go beyond progression and actually try and do well in an annoying grindy PvP event? Bragging rights? No thanks, the rewards are NOT worth my time and effort. Is there any other reason to try and do well in these events?
Why play Ratc at all if you aren’t in a competitive coalition? Why should I play this boring half-a-week long repetitive event if I’m not doing it for my competitive coalition? For jewels? I’ll pass. For crystals and packs? Meh. So I can have the joy of kicking tezz’s butt? already done that. Is there something I’m missing here?
Why open packs or free boosters at all? for the insanely low chance that I get something new? sorry but opening packs has lost its amazing feeling of getting something amazing. You can see the gem shake and you think for a split second “perhaps…” but no, its only ever a dupe. Is there any good feeling in getting your 7th peacewalker colossus? Why should I bother opening packs?
You already know what they think. Their silence speaks volume. They think everything is fine and dandy. Drop rates are awesome matchmaking is exactly how they want it and they player base is diminishing. The players must be leaving in droves because they took away the player counter so we wouldn’t be able to see that. The wsentiment about the game is that it’s going downhill quickly. If I were d3 I would try to turn that sentiment around as quickly as possible but almost every move they make is impossibly bad and more harmful to them. I’m more convinced now than ever that the MTGPQ division of d3 will be a tax write off very soon .
I actually like the smaller brackets and fewer tryhards because I actually place higher in events.
In terms of events, I feel like we are on cruise control until they can push another update. Play as much/little as you want until new content arrives.
Agree 100% with the jewels, I have a stash of them and cannot bring myself to spend it on a trash/dupe. Right now I would give them 800 jewels for my pick of any Mythic in the game. (Would be a tough choice).
This whole new update looks to be centered on player retention. Theme decks, training grounds, guaranteed rares in premium packs are all meant to cater to the newer player looking to progress. The one thing they are leaving out of the equation at the moment are meaningful rewards for events. Dupes are not a big concern for newer players which is why that solution is coming for us in a few months and not right now.
I will hold out hope that they’ll figure out the missing pieces before things go south any further. I think this new update is a good step in the right direction but if they want to make any more money and keep us around as players they have to do more than release some new cards every few months. We need fun, exciting events with prizes worth playing for.
In the event selection screen, they used to show the number of players participating in each listed event. Last patch (or maybe the one before that?) did away with this.
Tinfoil hat merchants are of the mindset that it is a way to hide the apparent drop in participation following the most recent string of wildly unpopular updates. I think there is some merit to that idea, as I cannot think of a single legitimate reason for getting rid of the counter.
I can’t believe you don’t know the real reason. It was because the player counter was cluttering up the ui and making the rest of the screen nearly illegible.
You don’t remember the massive outcry from everyone? How we could barely find the button to join the event with half the screen taken up by the player counter. For shame.
It was the same level of outcry as when they had to undo the fast pace of the game when everything sped into the point that everything was nearly fun. That wave of negativity.
To stay on topic I would throw the question to the devs to confirm that this ui clutter was indeed an issue that required the total removal of this quite interesting feature.
Are they allowed to say anything here? I guess they could get in trouble with their employer?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thing as an employee you’re not allowed to make data of your company public.
Am I correct in thinking you already have a significant amount of cards? Because like any game that uses random pack draw mechanics, be it paper or digital, you’re going to eventually start gaining a higher percentage of dupes with each non-dupe you receive. I believe this to be fair imho. Yes, it stinks for those who have a collected a great many cards and are seeking those few that eluded them but the fact remains that your odds to receive X card is still just as good as a brand new player starting today.
