Especially given how utterly useless those decks are. Does the person who designed them play the game AT ALL? Was it even a person or were they made from the laughable auto deck builder (it might explain things)?
I would love to have any of the D3/Hibernum employees enter an event using a full Master deck and see how well they do… How about anyone who beats their score gets some unobtanium prize? That’d be fun.
Anyway, what happened to all entries from those deck building competitions?
-there are up to three deck slots you can use however you want
-all these decks (apart from ajani 2 and the amk walkers) were designed and voted for by the community, and are the result of that competition as far as I know.
Apart from that, I agree totally that the decks are mostly useless.
The Beginner, Expert, and Master decks are “theme decks” that were designed by the community as part of a competition. One thing to note that these “theme decks” have a major constraint to them: they are limited to a SINGLE block of cards - even more restrictive than Standard which includes Origins and 2 other blocks of cards currently!
I think the decks in the game ARE the decks from the deckbuilding competition, aren’t they? They told us that they’d credit the designers in game, which is literally the only reason I entered, but then they didn’t bother. They’ve got our content, and we all signed the small print, so bollocks to us, right?
The decks are useless in all formats currently available in-game because of the deckbuilding restrictions laid upon us.
It’s kinda ludicrous that for most planeswalkers that everyone owns, the precon decks take up 3 times as much space as your actual decks (because let’s face it, we’ve all figured out now that buying extra deck slots is worth it in very few circumstances), and they push your own decks off the bottom of the screen so you can’t read their names.
There’s no format in which they are useful. All they do now is clutter up the UI.
Based on several threads, including this thread and this POLL, the general forum-community consensus so far is that deck slots are useful but too expensive, and the theme decks from the forum deck competition are not helpful.
*for advanced players. Never heard the opinion of someone new to the game.
The restriction to one set might be cool as a challenge but not realistic. A secondary use for those slots might be great
I know people who does not play the standard events just not to waist 10 minutes to adjust their decks every event. They say they only have few minutes to play and not to build decks.
I was looking forward to the deck slots but never used them because the event decks serve that function perfectly. I don’t mind building a deck for new events as long as I just keep it for that event. I basically don’t really use the main deck anymore. Maybe I’d use the deck slots if they didn’t cost so much.
