Tactics for newer players who don't have 3-stars yet

Let’s use this thread to discuss strats for players who are still rocking 1-star and 2-star teams.

As I always mention to newer players, Iron Man Model 35, Modern Storm, Modern Widow is probably the best 1-star team. Super well rounded, surprisingly decent damage and great crowd control with Widow’s blue.

I also always mention that newer players should try to get Thor / C. Storm / Wolvie (Astonishing) from prologue ASAP. I think they have pretty OK chemistry as a team, since you save your red & yellow for Thor to do damage, and your blue for Storm to do damage. Another nice perk is that Wolvie’s yellow is a passive and doesn’t require any AP. They kind of bump up against each other in the green department because Wolvie needs green to add strike tiles to the board, and Storm’s green clears the board. Still, once you get Wolvie high enough, his strike tiles add lots of good damage bonuses.

It might be worth it to think about Daken on this team too, since his strike tiles are free, and like 2-star Wolvie, his passive heal is also free.

Venom is a card that doesn’t get mentioned often, but his black Devour ability is an instakill. However, you may not want to max out his skills because they increase the AP cost considerably. 4/4 might be OK, at least as a temporary solution. I haven’t played him a ton since I mistakenly maxed him at 5/5 icon_e_sad.gif

You want 5/4 for Venom - level 5 of Devour is OK, it’s just level 5 of Symbiote Snare that is too expensive. Venom is useful, it’s just a shame that his max level is 35 (or 40 if you max his skills).

i still think spending a lot of ISO on 1 stars is a bad idea. they can get thor/storm/wolverine/dakin to decent levels from the campaign, and wolverine/dakin have almost no downtime in the campaign so they can do it really fast. there are some good 1 stars, but to get 3 of them to max level is wasting a lot of ISO in my opinion.
