REWARDS

Post your strategies for this event below!

Ugh. Don’t like it at all. You choose NOW to make an event which requires all vampires and horrors, right after Crimson Vow rotates out of Standard? Choices for these cards are very thin on the ground in Standard and they’re in all 3 nodes here.

Also: that Protector objective is very random. You can’t be expecting us to play with no creatures, can you, given that the other objective requires us to play creatures. So the ribbons here are really determined by whether our random Greg opponent happens to be playing creature destroying cards or effects.

Are we sure the objectives are correct? White used to be spirits/zombies and green was wolves/werewolves.

Maybe the vampires/horrors thing is a copy/paste error.

Edit: I take it back, there are 6 wolves/werewolves in Standard now though at least spirits and zombies are well represented.

I definitely found it strange as well. All of the Innistrad sets have went into Legacy and they choose now to change an Innistrad event to Standard.
Just seems like this was not well thought out.

@Magic_PQ_Support_Team does this updated Terrors in the Shadows still lock a planeswalk for the entire event and are the battles still ‘Enraged’?

There seems to be a need for vampires and werewolves, but all the vampires and werewolves have only gone to Legacy! I don’t have that many werewolves and vampires.
How to play with such a condition?!

@Tolkne
Each node above says Vampire or Horror and it only requires to “summon” 2. You can do this with a single creature or with spells or abilities that summon those types.
You’ll have to get creative.
It is doable.

If it’s correct and they’ve all been changed to Vampire (and Horror), this is doable. DMU, LCI and MKM all have a fair bit of Vampires. Duskmourn should have a large amount of Horrors.

The issue is if that’s a C/P error and the old text is correct. My Standard collection of cards that say Wolf is 5 and Werewolves is 0 now, and BLB has 1 Wolf in the EDH decks, meaning at best it might be a Masterpiece.

Horror is much better than vampire:
More colors, more variety, more possibilities

Now… Webcore… you have remembered to… TEST this event, haven’t you

Hey, @Sorin81!

New events will probably not use the PW lock system, but we have not changed other mechanics of this event, so the lock still exists. The battles also feature Enraged, same as before.

You could, of course, change that to bring this revamped event in line with new events?

@Magic_PQ_Support_Team

Release notes say:

"Changed Terrors in the Shadows:
It has been changed from Legacy to Standard.
It now offers 4 charges per node, totalling 12 charges.
Third node’s Objective Summon was replaced with Commander.

This event thread doesn’t show that change. Which is the third node?

@Magic_PQ_Support_Team
The green node also says wolves or werewolves, not vampires or horrors as posted above.
You guys know there are only 5 wolves in standard and ZERO werewolves!?

To those checking, yes, the green and white nodes were both listed incorrectly above.

White:
Commander
Summon 3+ creatures
Pacifist
Kill 2 or less enemy creatures

Green:
Summon
Summon 2+ wolves/werewolves
Protector
Lose 2 or less creatures

Hey, folks!

Apologies for the incoherent documentation above, we’ll have it sorted Monday. The objectives currently used in the event are intentional and as should be (yes, we’ve tested. it’s doable, even if harder than it was before.)

This very much reminds me of the time that Hibernum decided that killing an opponent with 392 life in 3 turns was ‘doable, even if harder than it was before’

https://forums.505go.com/discussion/59137/hey-devs-can-we-get-an-example/p1

How long did that last before they had to relent and change it to 7 turns? A few weeks maybe? If that?

Your viable options for the green node are basically:

  1. Play Garruk, Cursed Huntsman
  2. er…
  3. That’s it

I mean sure, you can play with Tolsimir, Midnight’s Light, or Somberwald Alpha, or Hollow Scavenger, or Timberpack Wolf, or Bristlepack Sentry. Be my guest! Or you could play with Garruk1 or Arlinn2. Let me know how that works out for you against a Ghalta deck.

This is a really strange event.

Imagine an alternate reality where webcore tweaked the tribal objectives to better align with the tribes in Bloomburrow? What if they gave everyone who joined a Bloomburrow super pack at the beginning full of new tribal cards to use?

Wouldn’t it be grand to have an exciting draft-type opening celebration instead of an inexplicably ill timed and poorly thought out shoddy reskin of a perfectly serviceable legacy event?

We are truly in the worst timeline.

It IS weird that Bloomburrow is a set with a very heavy tribal theme, and they’ve given us a new Standard tribal event, but instead of featuring the Bloomburrow tribes, it features the tribes prominently featured in MID and VOW, which have just rotated out!

Ooh! Maybe they HAVE already designed a Bloomburrow event, but they’re giving us a few weeks or months to collect Bloomburrow cards before they run it. I hope so!
