The 7 Day PVE Grinding problem

When are we getting a PVE that isn’t 7 days long? It seems that this is the Devs favorite length for PVE, but that’s going to cause a lot of grinders to be burnt out on the game. After every PVE being a commander of Grootlings and We Are Gr00T, we deal with people that quit the game due to being burnt out on these excessively long PVE’s. Their hasn’t been a 3-4 day PVE in a few months and I don’t think that’s going to change unless we start really complaining about it. Do the Devs understand how hard it is to hit every refresh in a 168 HOUR PVE?! And do you know how hard it is to do that with every PVE? You’re going to cause a massive drop in players who just can’t do that kind of grind.

Doubt anything will be done about this. Had to get it off my chest lol

I honestly dont think the devs expect us to grind non stop. That is just an expectation we put on ourselves. I have noticed alot of alliances becoming more lenient in their requirements. Sure you may not be top 10, but I am currently in a top 100 alliance of people who only expect me to get the max progression reward. I go way past that, without grinding every node every 2.5 hours.

I know it’s not a popular opinion, but if you don’t like grinding every 2.5 hours, just stop. If you are doing something you don’t like doing because of a perceived “need” to do so, just stop.

I tried my best to get an Elektra, but all my tokens failed. It bugs me, but not enough to rant or put money into the game for a 3% chance at one. And that is ok. I am sure I will get one sooner or later.

The fun thing is that Simulator doesn’t really need to be 7½ days long. It’s three subs that happen to be 2½ days long. Could just as easily be 24 hour subs if they wanted a shorter PvE.

I am also confused about the required grinding the developers seem to “require”. My alliance doesn’t care where you finish in any PvP or PvE, and yet because of my determination, I’ve had at least one cover of each character while living a normal life. It doesn’t take over my social life AND I manage to sleep 7-8 hours every night without waking to grind down nodes.

If a game is interfering with your life, you might want to rethink the game, or alliance, or both. In my own opinion.

Let me preference, I enjoy this game. So I want to be able to play it without being stressed out. I Enjoy making top ten, but from these 7 day PVE’s if you miss just 1 refresh, you risk not making top 10. And this is important for new characters. Considering it’s impossible for me to try and make top 10 in any sort of PVP, I don’t have the roster for it. So I’m stuck with PVE’s for now. But as someone trying to build their roster, why are we forced the shit end of the stick? People who have to build their rosters, Have to continuously grind nonstop to be efficient. And i mean NON STOP. Considering the next PVE starts immediately when the last 1 ends. There is no break anymore. You’re asking your most devoted players, to grind themselves to death until they just hate the game.

It’s not just a 7-day problem, it’s a PVE grinding problem.

I’ve said it before, and so have others, but here it comes again:

Competitive PvE is a bad idea.

I used to compete heavily to get new covers, but the grind for 4* Thor covers has burned me out on PvE grinding completely. My plan now is to hope for some Luke Cage in the Simulator, but not go crazy over it, and to try to win him in PvP instead.

With the recently decreased rubber banding and increased number of players willing to grind optimally on the refresh schedule, it’s just not worth the stress.

Grind or pay, there is no try.

Have you considered a different system for building your roster?

My recommendation would be to aim for 1 cover (instead of T10) if in fact one is building a roster. Unless you have a specific place in your roster a new character would fill (and require one of each cover to do so).

This way one can focus on building your roster but still be able to enjoy life and play essential nodes for the next line. Maybe I’m just partial to the roster I’ve built, but I have none of the new characters built up or in use in my main rotation. And since I don’t care to spend mega dollars to build them up, this system works fine for me. I can play essentials and focus my ISO into characters in my team.

I would consider myself devoted as I have played for 420+ days and have roster slots filled for every character (not every color cover). But perhaps, I’m just devoted in a way that is not usual around these parts.

Why does it matter if the event is 4 days or 7?

It’s not like there’s a long gap between events. You’ll just have another PvE to farm soon after regardless. Essentially farming them every day of the year.

The same is true with PvP’s. Worse in fact…as PvP’s overlap from time to time.

Personally, I don’t care how long events are so long as they offer plenty of room for rewards over time. These 7 day events with 24 hour subs are wonderful for ISO gain, quick hp and tokens. The only subs I dislike are those which are 2+ days and relatively few nodes leading to a 20 ISO grind fest for multiple days.

4 Day PVE’s allow someone to grind hard for a cover they need, and then slow down for the next PVE. As long as PVE is competitive, their needs to be easier ways to get covers. It’s easy for someone new to the game to just hit every refresh, 3 months later down the road though he’s going to be burnt the fuck out. Also, maybe a 24 hour break inbetween PVE’s? Yeah that’d be nice. You know, like it used to be, before they introduced the bracket/time slice system. It was supposed to make grinding easier but it only made it worse.

I think the problem, in part, is sub lengths. A 7-day PVE doesn’t bother me that much if there are 7 subs. I’m getting prizes every morning for the grind. If there are 3 subs, though, it gets tedious. Most clears are for 20 ISO each after about the midpoint. As a result, they’re incredibly unrewarding.

Simulator is a very ungrindy 7 days. Enter the hard sub with 36 hours to go - do 3 or 4 clears before scaling gets ridiculous. Enter the normal sub at the 12 hour mark - do 4 clears. You collect rewards for 6 subs, all progression, and at least 1 cover on top of that plus very few 20 iso rewards. It is all about pacing and using whatever rubberband is available.

The developers stated in the past that they understood players did not like 7-10 day PVE’s and this was the reason for the change to shorter PVE’s. The only complaint ever that I know of was for either Hulk or the Hunt when there was like a new sub in less than every 24 hours.

That said, there were a bunch of whiners that there was nothing to do for certain players when there was no PVE going on. In reality, there was a day (a single day’s break) between the PVE’s. So,the whiners won. However, instead of there being more PVE’s with shorter play times, we are back to weeklong PVE’s. But hey, at least the minority that complained they are bored should be happy now…

I remember this. I remember thinking that, the break inbetween PVE is to MAKE you want to play more. That was the entire point. So even the “Whiners” Have no real reason to complain. Other than that there might be a day where they have nothing to do and it’s a break between PVE’s. The break is to make you WANT it more.

I think people would prefer shorter PvE events because that means more overall prizes are given out but that’s never been D3’s concern to begin with. I remember there was like 2X2 day Heroic Juggernaut that gave out Captain America prizes and people were grinding hardcore for that, and that was Heroic Jugg! So all this complain about the format or the type of event sucks doesn’t matter if they’re going to give you more stuff for the same amount of work, but ‘give away more free stuff’ is not exactly a priority for D3.

I wouldn’t mind if the nodes reset after you get your checkmark or something so that you’re not just looking at 20 iso each time.

Except when you join the hard, you’re also put in a bracket for the normal, even if it isn’t up yet. The new join method means a lot of the old tricks don’t work.

I was number 1 in my bracket in the last PVE. I worked though the nodes about every 3-4 hours. I slept a full nights sleep. If I woke during the night I would grab my tablet and play a node or two before I crashed again but I never deliberately interrupted my sleep to play or forced my self to play more than I was willing.

Basically I turtled it. I rarely play a pass in one sitting. That would just be tedious. I play a few nodes then do something else for a bit and then return for a few more nodes. Rinse and repeat.

You really aren’t compelled to grind. That perception is internally imposed.

The last PVE was also during christmas and for a very old character. I hardly played as well and got top 20 playing 2-3 times a day. Everyone was relaxed during the last PVE.

Still works, just not as effectively. If you are careful about your initial join, top50 (and hero points) are easily obtained for all subs, but top10s are out without massive grinding now.

For the most part 7 day PvE events have convinced me to stop playing this game.
