sigh Time to put on the flame proof mod pants.

This thread has the potential to go down hill fast. Now, since I am really trying to be more open and less strict, please, please, do not let this thread go off in the wrong direction. I feel this is a worthwhile topic and can be very informative to a lot of people. So if everyone can be nice and civil, we can keep it going. My post here is mostly an attempt to avoid any unpleasantness and defuse any serious rule violations before they happen.
Thank you all in advance.
Danger.
takes off mod pants don’t worry folks. regular pants are still on.
Poaching players actually can happen. But, in my opinion, it can only happen if the player is willing to be poached in the first place.
In MPQ, I started an alliance family of 3 teams. The first was top 100 in PvP, top 20 in PvE. The second was t200 PvP and PvE both. The 3rd was like a resting ground where players from the first two could take a break and still be part of the family. We were very close at one point and became good friends. There were several attempts by better, higher ranked alliances that tried to poach some of our members, but they chose to stay.
Fast forward about 2 years and things started to change. I was getting slack in my leadership duties and lazy about recruiting new players. The result was, that when some were approached by stronger teams, they went. The alliance I had built was no longer giving them the rewards they deserved. And that was on me. It showed me that because I wasn’t willing to put forth the effort to maintaining a top team, I’m better off letting others take over. That’s just a better fit for me and I haven’t regretted it once.
Now, you may be thinking “what does this have to do with MtG?” Well, I’m glad you asked.
I play MtG casually, so starting my own coalition would be pointless. However, in an effort to be a more effective moderator, I’ve been playing Magic more and more. Buy, having learned from experience, joining a casual group would be a much better fit for me. So, if anyone out there knows of one, please let me know.
