_ **“Some time rifts didn’t take away the people but just the ground they stood on.”** _

_Dominaria is dying._

_For those magical enough to notice the plane’s mana is being drained, and without mana, everything decays. For everyone else, resources are scarce, life doesn’t flourish, food spoils and soon, death comes._

_But to someone as powerful as a planeswalker, whatever it is that is happening to Dominaria, is nothing compared to what will happen to the multiverse if Dominaria perishes. As the nexus of the multiverse Dominaria was the first plane to feel the effects of the unusual magical presence of planeswalkers. The plane’s mana is leaking into the Blind Eternities, the space between realms. And only magic as powerful as the ones that created it, can really close a time rift._

## Special Rules

The rifts distort, absorb and scatter mana in all its forms. Players are affected by a support that alters their mana bonus each turn. The supports cycle through the following order: Zhalfir Rift \> Madara Rift \> Shiv Rift\> Yavimaya Rift \> Urborg Rift\> Tolaria Rift \> Zhalfir Rift:

I like the idea that you have to shift focus on which colored gems are making the most mana for you in any given round.

I have had matches where the gems lined up with the event support and gains load of extra mana (compared to my PWs normal mana profile). But when it does not align the match is a slog.

This leads me to the next point. The event is extremely random. It may be the intention but the way Greg gains mana is unbalanced and way too random. Most of my matches Greg will have huge mana income because the extra boost to his mana profile. If this then is coupled with a cascade then Greg is swimming in mana.

Finally, the idea that Greg gets to benefit from the mana income generated by removing the loyalty gems from the board at the end of the round is simply just like giving Greg an extra turn, but only randomly.

I suggest that when you trigger the removal of loyalty gems please alter Greg’s mana profile to -100 on all six stats. This way Greg won’t get an extra turn. Then reset Greg’s mana profile at the beginning of the players turn.

I really like this event - true, a lot of cascades for Greg, but it was manageable and it was fun to build and try decks for it!
