You don’t join a main bracket until you select an end time. The amount of people in your bracket should be in a red band above the black band that states how much time is left in the event. It is easiest to just check the last post in the thread, to see what the latest info someone has provided. If the time zone settings in your user profile are correct, you should be able view the time the person posted, to see how current their info is. There is a possibility of multiple brackets filling side by side, so join a “fresh” bracket at your own risk.

2)Current amount of people in bracket
3)Leader in bracket with amount of points
4)Time you joined the event, if it was not right before posting in the thread.

May I suggest the OP add an item to the useful info list with regards to vet/newb brackets? Or maybe we should start calling them normal/hard brackets, since that is probably more accurate, and should not mislead people into thinking their roster strength or days-played is relevant here.
Our best knowledge right now is that players will be put into normal/hard brackets based on their placement history, and there is at least one example of a player fluctuating between normal>hard>normal brackets with top 50 and top 100 placements.

i’ve seen peeps get into both newb or vet brackets or other way around from pve to pve. so it can be deceiving also, best way to figure it which you are in is just giving samples of who’s in t5 with their scores.
The risk of joining the wrong bracket can be greatly reduced if two things are done:
Ask people to post the names and scores of more than just the bracket leader, so that the top 3/5/10 players can also be known. For the purpose of finding a new bracket, the identity of the top players is probably more important than their scores even. Since you seem to agree with this, it could be helpful to make this point explicit in the thread.
If people can pick up the habit of posting their PvE records with their reports, it can help us determine where the cutoff is for transitioning between normal/hard brackets. This can improve our ability to properly identify normal/hard brackets.
Just joined slice 2 at 461. Leader is PUERTO RICO WITH 10554. 10th is M.Joda the with 6920. I’m a consistent top 10/20 pve player so this is a hard/vet bracket

65/69 after 1 full pass. 465 people at 4:33a EST
Just joined slice 3 as #994… been a while since I entered that low, so was bound to happen at some point I guess. Ah well, I’ll see where I end up in the end.
I’ll update this post when it fulls up, and btw this is a vet bracket (have always been in vet in the last 10 months or so).
Edit: and some 15 minutes later it’s filled up (aj_the_great08 leading, Malcrof in 3rd). Good luck to anyone joining slice 3!
Edit: up to 108 players, too early to predict if this bracket will close before the event ends. #1 is ACExKING @6822 points (that’s at least 2 clears).
This bracket is now at 509. I’m t150, consistent with my normal standings. (I managed to enter the last slice 3 bracket for the Hunt & score a Thing cover, though.)
