Is the werewolf and villager set worth getting? For 600 crystals, you get 2 guaranteed rares, but only a total of 30 cards. If I get a SOI big box for 600 crystals, I get 1 guaranteed rare, but I get 70 cards total. Assume for this question that I have all of the uncommons and commons in each set. (I don’t really, but I figure the question gets much easier if we make that assumption.)
Basically, is the drop rate so low that getting the extra guaranteed rare is worth 40 fewer chances to get a rare?
I really would love to get Silverfur Partisan, Geier Reach Bandit, and Wolf of Devils Breach, but I don’t know if this set is the right way to go about getting them.
I got Hanweir Militia Captain and Silverfur Partisan (which I had already). Hard to say if it’s worth it, but it’s not 600 but 300 crystals, so it’s a relatively good bargain, I think.
I got three militia captains in one ‘box’. The fact that 3 of my 13 cards (the last ‘pack’ was the guaranteed rare and no other cards) were all the same rare that I already had was very annoying. I know the odds of this are actually relatively high considering there’s only 4 rares in the set and 3 mythics but it’s still lame, especially when I’m missing two of the mythics and two of the rares. Steep cost for basically nothing in my eyes. My experience with all packs has been so terrible that I’m starting to think the people who post about good pulls from packs are not real players and it’s all just one big conspiracy to get us to keep wasting crystals on packs.
A quick guide to whether or not you should buy themed expansions:
Can you get Harness the Storm, Behold the Beyond, Descend upon the Sinful, Tamiyo’s Journal, Devil’s Playground, Haunted Cloak, Fevered Visions and Corrupted Grafstone out of them? No? Then no.
Other power cards are available. Terms and conditions apply.
This isn’t paper magic where one booster box of bad pulls means the good cards are elsewhere. This is digital and by the very nature of rng, there could never be a super good pull. If the devs stated that there was X amount of specific cards in X number of packs purchased across all players, then I’d say you are right but they have never given any indication as to how drop rates work or what the % chance of a rarity is within a certain product. That’s where the frustration comes from. I’ll still keep buying packs with crystals because what else is there to do with them when you already have the planeswalkers you want? I don’t post about super good pulls because I have never had any. I would just like to see some disclosure about how the drop rates work. Currently we’re gambling without even knowing the odds and that pill is starting to get hard to swallow.
