I guess it is now time to list what it takes to have a complete roster.
Ready ? You’ll feel dizzy by the figures :
4* :
5, one of which is “only” 344K Iso
Covers : 5 x 13 = 65
HP (maximum you can pay) : 50*2500 = 125 000 (you are supposed to win the first 3 colours for each character)
Iso : 4x430K + 344K = 2 064 K (2 million)
Price : $2619 for Iso, $619 for the HP
3* :
28, 3 of which with only 10 covers
Covers : 25 * 13 + 3 * 10 = 355
HP (same) : 274 * 1250 = 342 500
Iso : 25170K + 3110K = 4 580 K
Price : $5800 for the Iso, $1700 for the HP
1* & 2* : 21 characters
You can get the covers very easily, no need to calculate the cost.
Iso : 1 099 K
Price : $1400 for the Iso
Grand Total : $12 200
========================
Now, let’s be cynical for a couple of minutes :
They offered the Alliance slots for the newcomers. Well, that’s such a ridiculous gift compared to what has to be achieved…
I’ve never bought ISO or used HP for covers.
I have a full roster (all characters), all my 2* are covered/maxed with 8 3*s covered/maxed and most are covered except the newer ones. I’ve only used $ to get HP for roster slots and shields as needed. So, I’m not so dizzy at the cost as much as I am that someone would actually spend all that when they don’t have to.
Edit: Ms. Marvel is a new 2* so I don’t have her covered and leveled yet.
Title corrected for accuracy:How much money would you need to buy a fully maxed roster if you literally did nothing in-game besides winning 1/1/1 covers for 3s and picking up 2 covers along the way.
HP: Sentry covers + Hood Covers: 20 x 1500 = 30000 HP = $150.
Iso: Who cares because no non-rich person is going to spend a dime on iso, and will play the game to earn their iso instead.
Yes, your numbers make sense if you want to buy a “complete” roster, but who even cares about having a complete roster when there’s only 2 relevant characters in the game for PvP anyways? Your indignation regarding this doesn’t make a lot of sense.
What actually bothers me much is the increasing cost of roster slot.
For me it’s now 700 HP a slot and as I am a collector I don’t want to sell some characters, not even Yelena
I am in a top 250 alliance and rarely go above top 25 in pvp, so the flow of HP is not too bad but if cost keeps increasing it will soon not be enough.
Sure, with the devaluation of alliance slots, I wonder if they could decrease roster slot cost. Or at least make a constant price.
I know it’s an entry of money for the game but a flat price of 500 hp above 50 th slot for example would seem fair for both player and MPQ I think
At this point, it’s a wonder you didn’t try to guesstimate the number of 42-token packs needed to avoid the tedious hassle of winning any covers at all: “Well, it takes about $15,000 to acquire and max every single playable character in the game (except for GT) without fighting a single enemy. That’s outrageous because, let’s be real, that’s actually what everyone secretly wants to do. [insert reference to current forum complaint]”
Why bother white-knighting this, of all things? Of course it’s unrealistic that 99.99% of players are going to go down the ‘buy everything’ route. (Won’t say all, because I’m sure there’ll be that one person whose day will be made by proving me wrong… shakes fist)
From what I can tell, the point of the thread wasn’t ‘this is what it costs us all’. Point was… this is what it’s valued at, presently. shrug
I found it an interesting exercise in perceived value/cost. Was interesting information, nothing much else.
Eh, have read many. Just don’t see this in particular as being all that controversial / attacking / in need of defence.
Actually think it raises a valid point. ‘They’ value the current roster at $12,000+ … which is crazy. A lifetime subscription to many games, unlocking all possible content, usually only reaches into the hundreds. Paying for a yearly subscription to many games, for life, would never come close to 12k.
Just seems an extraordinary price to put on virtual goods.
