If we are talking mono colored in standard I would probably agree with blue, but for legacy and as a supplemental color I would think green would get all the love, the best ramp by far and away just with rexpertise and and Nissa’s Renewal, arguably the best creature in the game in Gaea’s Revenge, all kinds of support removal, card draw, life-gain, direct and indirect creature removal, and some of the best token generators. Also the title says color and last I checked colorless is not a color (though neither is white or black technically)
By MTG rules, colorless is not a color, though black and white are (along with RGU obviously). Anyway, blue is just ridiculous in this game, though white is a close second to me, as it fits my favorite play style. Unfortunately, first strike creatures with reach die easily to removal. My current most fun deck is a Teferi historic deck with Jhoira and StV. Once I get his ultimate out it’s often a total board wipe every turn plus a nearly full to full hand for StV to fill up to repeat the process. Heck, it’s so mana strong that the River’s Rebuke I have in there for backup removal could probably be used as my main form of removal. I did use it that way in the latest AJTH, with StV giving me match-4+s and blocking use of my abilities.
We poll should have been specific for standard or legacy.
In standard, STV asside, the best color is definitively Red. People should not be fixated on STV and opt for blue. when hou rotates out, green will be too expensive for lack of gem changers.
Blue was strongest in legacy with startled and whatnot. Deploy did not cause as much grief as startled or pig, Olivia and Ulrich
Blue is already arguably the strongest color in the paper game, and Puzzle Quest ramped that power level up to 11 by eliminating its traditional weaknesses. Blue is supposed to struggle with ramp and removal. But here for no reason blue has been given free mana, and the ability to destroy creatures and supports returned to a full hand. Add to that the inflated size of blue creatures, even above other colors, and the color here lacks any weakness.
I chose black ,but it’s mainly because it suits my personal play style best. Resource denial is about my favorite thing to do and black delivers . I play L3 a lot . Something about picking Greg apart slowly before smashing his face with a 36/36 zombie token brings me joy . In standard, I like green almost as much because it feels like cheating. Blue is stupid strong, I just don’t have a whole lot of fun playing it. I find that all of my blue decks end up being practically identical.
