What time slice in Versus mode is the hardest to compete in?

I’ve seen many people refer to how certain time slices are tougher than others, but I’ve not seen a definitive ranking.
Speaking in terms of achieving progression awards - which is the hardest to earn points in regardless of how you end up in final placement.
Full disclosure - I’ve not played much in Versus, and I’m thinking of making more of an effort, but don’t want to jump head first in the deep end.

What do you mean by “hardest”?

I would argue Slice 1 is the most difficult when it comes to placement, and yet it’s much easier to hit 900. Your score might very well be higher, but your placement lower.

Good point @Borstock, thanks. I was thinking more for progression, not placement. I edited the question to clarify.
