I’ve began to collect a few 5* covers and I’m wondering if they are hurting my PVE scaling or the opponents I see in PVP. I’m still in the 3* tier. I do have one champed 4* (xfw) but only because he’s been around since launch; all my other 4* are a ways from being fully covered, and none of them have an iso investment yet. I have about half of the 3* tier champed.
I only have four 5*, none with more than two covers. Should I sell them and wait to collect 5* until I’m established in the 4* tier? I hate to sell them, but if it would help improve the scaling I’m seeing I’d be perfectly willing.
As long as you have a decent group of championed 3*, you should be just fine. Because boosted 3s will be around the level of an un-leveled 5. If you have at least 10 championed 3s, you will be fine. That was where I was when I started rostering 5s.
Keep them but don’t level them util you have solid champed 4* team. And if you are not sure about the scaling don’t use CP and LT - just hoard. It simply means your roster is not ready for the transition to 5* land.
You are fine for scaling, don’t sell your 5* but don’t invest iso in them either at this point. If you have half of your 3* champed you should be able to create several decent team combinations. It does help to have the better 3* covered first (IM40, IF, BP, Cage, Mags, SWitch, etc etc). When you enter an event, look at the boosted level of your champed 3*, it should be close to the level of a 5* at level 255. I don’t think devs cover mechanism for scaling will impact you either since you aren’t sitting on a 5* with 9 covers who is under leveled.
Echoing what the others have said. The new PvE scaling takes the number of covers into consideration when determining enemy levels. XFW is causing you more problems than a 1-5 cover 5* character is.
Selling your 5s at this point would be a mistake. With half the 3s champed, you should be able to handle the scaling well enough. Taking the hard nodes to 6x is difficult, sure, but you’re only significantly backtracking your progress if you sell 5*s now.
