I keep seeing the excuse for back-to-back character releases that reads something like this: “It’s not D3’s fault! Marvel is leaning on them and choosing for them!”
My title is a bit misleading, I don’t really care who chooses. What I care about is WHEN people knew these characters were coming.

–My point is this: we have known for at least a year and a half about all of the characters that were going to be emphasized in the Marvel (media) universe . Sure, you want to time them for the release the best you can. But back-to-back releases a couple of times in the last month were not necessary - Kamala Khan and Squirrel Girl could have waited as 3*'s. Professor X could have waited as a 4*.
Speaking of which, PX (and other mutants) weren’t rushed out the door when X-men was being released or re-released on DVD. Bucky hasn’t been released, despite two Cap movies. The Guardians weren’t rushed out…in fact, we still haven’t seen one.
Sure, since most of those releases the schedule has been bumped up (I doubt “Rocket and Groot” would be one character in today’s release world). That’s fine, lots of character releases are going to happen, and that schedule may be here to stay. I’m actually starting to look forward to characters, despite the hectic release schedule.
But please, no more back-to-back releases! A little looking at the calendar please! It is hard to accept that Marvel alone is both insisting both every single character and exactly WHEN they are to be released.
I hope I don’t have to return here and point out when Ant Man or Fantastic 4 were announced.
