Got 40 filled roster slots and I refuse to pay the outrageous hp prices for more. With more characters coming who should be my top 3 on the hot seat? I’ve broken them into categories with how they are used currently

(Useless as of now but would hate to miss essential nodes in pve, but sacrifices must be made. Most likely candidates for the chopping block. Keeping daken & bp though, if they ever get unvaulted)
IMO I’d suck up the HP and keep all 3* you can just for essentials, feautred, ect.
Also IMO if you are dead set on keeping useless or average 4*s that will take you a year or more to get enough covers for to be useful I’d personally drop:
psylocke (although some one will make a case for her being ‘useful’, but most charecters can be situationally useful)
rags - but that’s just me, he’s set to be tampered with so you might want to hold on to him. Typically when some one is tampered with there seems to be a lot more covers available for them for a while
SG - but that’s just me, situationally useful I guess, would expect her to be featured for a bit.
If spending for slots is not an option, i would dump juggs 1st. As was stated earlier he can be picked up easily if needed for BoP or combined arms events. Of your 3* i would get rid of sentry, bwgs, psylocke in that order. I would put SG right after sentry but since she is so new she could be used as more boosted or essentials later on.
I only have 43 slots and hate spending the hp on them myself. I am rethinking my keeping all 4* as well as i really doubt i would even use elektra or starlord even if i had them fully covered. are they worth the iso?? Not really imo lol
I don’t have any 2 stars on my roster so I would just get rid of those. You don’t need them, keeping them around for the chance to use them once a season is a waste IMO
I’d disagree. A lot of people still use storm/mmags for climbing and sailing through PvE nodes much higher than they are. And with a mystique maxed in blue mmags is invaluable. Most people keep OBW around too. I actually started to build one after I’ve had quite a few fully covered 3* becuase she’s useful and I’ve never had one.
IMO a fully covered 2* and leveled is worth the 500 - 700 Hp of a roster slit.
Wish i could have a large roster. 550+ hp is just too hard to swallow for keeping characters i’ve never even used once (psy,rag,gsbw) or characters that were essential recently but will probably never get fed iso (SG,SL).
Had fully covered ares and obw, but they were only around level 30. It was hard to sell them off since they CAN be very useful. But if D3 is keeps crapping out characters and not dropping the roster slot prices more will have to be sold off.
Psylocke is only useful when she’s well covered. With only 1Black, you may as well not have her. Same goes for GSBW. The nice thing is that you’ll usually get a crack at winning a cover prior to someone becoming Essential, but that’s not a guarantee.
I have a maxed Sentry that I only use if I need a punching bag to take hits. Also, as a bad guy, he’s less likely to be featured as a PVE essential. He’d be another one for the chopping block if I were in your shoes.
My 4-5-4 Captain Marvel also never sees ISO on my roster. IM40 can generate AP more reliably, and DD and Loki have a more useful counter to Defense tiles. She’d be another one I look at sacking.
Lastly, I’m confused. Your levelling strategy says that you’re a PVE focus, but you don’t have an OBW. She makes even Lvl395 goon nodes trivial (which is why goon nodes tend to scale so high), so not having her on the roster puts you at a pretty big PVE disadvantage. I would clear one of the aforementioned 4 just to get her back on the roster.
I had her up until last week when I needed a spot for Star-Lord. She was only level 25 tho as I didn’t realize she was so useful in my early days and I dumped iso into 2* wolverine and thor instead.
I don’t have a bit of trouble with goon nodes with X-force/Mystique/MNMag, I rarely even get touched with that team. I will retreat if the board starts with little to no
Top 3 to cut: Level 50 Sentry, Level 40 GSBW, Level 40 Psylocke.
You will need to keep one roster slot dedicated to the next PvE flash in the pan if you want to keep a character to do essentials with. This time it’s Cyclops, next time it could be someone you cut. If the character that comes out isn’t one you see using long term, just keep them for 1 event, fire and replace.
my gsbw is level 78 and she is still weak and expensive to use. until they rebalance her, she is quite useless to keep. rags is useful to send as a team up but since you only have one cover, he’d be my second choice to ditch.
i’d say keep psylocke because she has featured as an essential character
who are you looking to replace with though? with cyclops? he looks like a good 3* character to have.
keep the 4*s. they will be sitting there for a long time but i kept my xforce and iw and they’re at 166 now. xforce is really useful after his buff. iw is useful too as a tank for crappy opponents, so yes she is useful lol. i expect her to be buffed at some point
