I am getting a bit disheartened by the sheer volume of new characters releasing that I’m having a lot of trouble keeping up with. Will there be any new 3*s so I feel a little less bad about not being able to roster them?
Yes. They announced new 3*. Starting in September the 5 star release will have a 3 star one at the same time.

In addition to the 4 and 5 every two weeks, so you’ll roster even fewer characters.
Is it an impossible thought, that they’ll make roster slots cheaper to balance this out? Seeing you and others with 1000’s of posts here saying stuff implying that the devs can change Y but not X. Getting kinda tedious TBH.
The devs addressed your concern in the July q & a. Apparently, help of some sort is in the works and on the way.
Sure the devs said they would do something.
But it probably won’t make it easier to roster 3 characters per month than it is to roster 2 like it is now.
So if OP had problems rostering the current releases, I wouldn’t expect it to get any easier for them in the future.
Yeah, I understand now after being on the forum a little longer that the devs may not see any of these other topics bar in the Q & A.
When I was wondering about extra 3*, I meant instead of a 4* or 5* every now and then, not as well as. That really is cranking up the grind machine without providing any extra ways to keep up bar spending a lot.
I don’t like the coercive feel of that. I’ve spent cash in the game before when I felt like I was on a roll, but the stream of new characters and seeing my backlog get larger and larger is giving me notions of calling it quits.
You’ll probably not like the extra 4* that’s coming soon then!
If it’s any consolation: 3* only matter in the first few months, once you have a few playable 4* or 5*, the 3* become dead weight that you’ll only use in required missions (just like the 1* and 2* before them).
Dude, they literally said that new 3* are coming starting this September, so don’t worry.
We did actually get some pretty decent 3* from the duel releases but then they sort of petered out.
Dr. Strange - Goon killer meta
Thanos - Quick PvE clear
Hawkeye - A very nice variety of powers and healing to boot
Gambit - broken black power on release exploited by playerbase, nerfed into the ground
Star-Lord - the laziest of the bunch, very average
Elektra - An OK version of the 4* and the only one who wasn’t a duplicate
So it stands to reason we might get some good 3* again as I assume the Devs will want to make a mark with these releases. Added in the possibility of new 4* feeder to potentially meta 4s and this might be interesting if not a bit HP busting, although obviously as a 5* player it is going to have limited impact outside of something fresh for PvP.
I REALLY hope there is some new content coming for all these low-tier characters.
The dual release 3* were indeed good and I used Strange and Thanos constantly… until I had their 5* versions and now I can’t remember when I’ve ever used them outside of essential nodes/PvP.
The new 3*/5* releases will probably follow the same path, so it’ll be interesting to see if the devs can find a way to makes these 3* useful for anyone who gets their 5* counterpart.

Oh yeah looking forward to more roster bloat for a class of character I will never use outside of when the game forces me to.
Atleast some people will enjoy it.

I’m really not sure why any long term player needs to use extra roster slots for these 3’s unless they really want to? If you have 3* dupes just sell a max champed one and start building the new character instead of a new dupe.
