Another Defense Rearrangement Bug

  1. Zombie token in slot 1, Gisela in slot 2.
  2. Cast ‘Give no Ground’ on Gisela. Now Gisela with reach is in Slot 1 and Zombie token in slot 2.
  3. Next turn, Gisela loses reach.
  4. Cast Lone Rider
  5. When Lone Rider ETB, Gisela and zombie token switch places. Zombie token in slot 1, Gisela in slot 2, Lone Rider in slot 3.

Unfortunately, this bug doesn’t occur consistently. Just randomly.

Another example:

  1. Prized Amalgam in slot 1, zombie token in slot 2
  2. AI casts claustrophobia, disabling slot 1. Ends turn
  3. Panic, as I will die if I can’t block, but my Prized Amalgam is disabled.
  4. Cast a 3rd creature (I think it was Noosegraf Mob)
  5. Prized Amalgam and zombie token switch places.
  6. Order is now zombie token in slot 1 disabled, Prized Amalgam in slot 2, Creature 3 in slot 3.
  7. Prized Amalgam is now successfully able to block while in slot 2.

This time the bug actually worked out in my favor. Unfortunately you can’t plan on using it because it seems to happen randomly.

it’s working as expected in both examples.

example 1: lone rider causes the original line up in
the order of first cast = first creature to initiate.
gisela being the 2nd creature cast will take the 2nd
creature slot.

example 2: noosegraf initiates the same process as
in example 1. only difference is amalgam has
temporarily lost it’s defender due to claustrophobia.
the zombie takes 1st creature as it was summoned
1st. it’s now disabled as 1st creature leaving amalgam
no longer disabled so now have it’s defender ability
reinstated. there is no more shuffling at this point
because there are no new summons to cause the
shuffle.(if the rearrangement did not stop there,
then it might possibly loop endlessly)

Wow @hawkyh1 , I have never understood how creatures switch around and you just described it very clearly. Thanks!
