(Alternative art version)
Bloodthirsty Conqueror, creature, black, 5/5, flying, deathtouch.
“When your opponent loses life: you gain that much life. This effect can trigger up to 4 time(s) per turn.”
Does Losing life include combat damage? Spell damage? So far It has not triggered for me while playing any events with the alternative art Card.
Or am I mistaken? Does it have to litterally be life taken by cards with the phrase “your opponent loses # life”?
@MtgHue It has to be an effect that specifies life loss. Any kind if damage doesn’t count as life loss and won’t trigger it.

The funny thing is: the paper card actually specifies that “damage causes loss of life” right in the text. Can someone please explain what cards and effects would actually trigger Bloodthirsty Conqueror?

Something like Demonic Tutor that says you lose life. If your opponent were to cast a Demonic Tutor while you have a Bloodthirsty Conquerer out, then you’d gain life after they lose life.
