Can we have new events

Can we have new events please, like lots of them. I am so bored of the old events. I need like 10 new events, REAL new events not just old stuff repackaged like ROGTP and RT. Single events and team events. Please just focus on new events, new cards and bugs.

I’d love to wait an additional week or two for every coalition event added to the game. I don’t care about useless features like the current level system or that loop prevention system as long as there is no actual reason to play.

I’m very much into getting new events over unpopular features like the LPS or player profiles.

But I’m not sure I like the emphasis on REAL new events; Duel Decks was/is awful, and must have taken a long time to design. It’s be possible to give us versions of old events in which small changes to the code translate to big changes in variety of gameplay: like this one or this one.

We’ve has small changes before: We’ve had conversions from Standard into Legacy. But converting an event into Legacy really isn’t an interesting change. Deckbuilding challenges are created via MORE constraints on the players, not less.

Good News! There will be a new coalition event in 3.5 (Brigby mentioned it somewhere).

Bad news: The next update is 3.4, which means we won’t be getting the new event for a looooong time (to make matters worse, 3.5 is probably the WAR update which was released in paper this past weekend but probably won’t be coming to PQ for several months)

  • 5 node, PvP legacy with 3 objectives
  • Monocoloured event, let’s try making the basic pws relevant again.
  • Come on… let’s have real time PvP!!

Just bring back the planeswalker arena and rework the objectives to not be terrible. We haven’t had one of those in ages.

I second this. Although I’ll take any not-frequently-played event at this point (Trial of Zeal anyone?)

I believe we need to keep the devs on track we have a little while before the new seat comes out. So we need to let them know now before hand we expect new events, several new events. Not recycled events, brand spanking new events.

If it’s just a coalition PvP event, though… that’s hardly new. We haven’t had a coalition PvE event since Dominaria launched.

I hate to break this to you, but we’ve been saying this to them very explicitly since DOM was released.

They responded to a Q&A then saying that making new events was a “very low priority” and have not commented on it since.

The new event coming in 3.5 will be the first new event we are getting in about a year. I don’t think they care at all what we want, nor do I think they really care what we are saying.

Point taken @Mburn7, that doesn’t mean we can’t still ask/demand the need for new events. Say what you will about the old boys at least they were pretty good about giving us the new content in forms of sets and events.

Im not exactly sure what the count was but each of their sets had several new events. I think SOI/EMi had 3-4 set, events. KLD/AER had 3/4 events, and AMK/HOD had 4-5 events including the best event of all time (according to all the devs) ROGTP. The objectives but each event was completely new, not recycled off old stuff like RT.

Honestly, talking with players from other top coalitions, it feels like interest in this game is severely waning. It seems to me like we’re almost as low as that point where Hibernum went out of business. Let that sink in for a minute. We’re almost to a point where the game is as bad as it was when it didn’t have a developer for something like six months. Without new events, we might as well not have a developer. I honestly wouldn’t mind if they just skipped WAR altogether, made some new events, and improved the stability of the game.

Yea I agree, I play in a top performer but lately it’s just been so hard to keep the faith. But I disagree with the skip war idea, I would probably quit the game if they did that.

They really should be able to develop a new set and new events at the same time(4-5 new events).

Why is it such an issue to create new events? Is it hard?

No, it is not hard.

I think it really depends on what you mean by new events. Are you talking about brand new game-mode events like Duel Decks, major ones like Coalition events, slightly smaller ones like Non-Coalition events, or Training Grounds-sized events?

The larger the scope of the event, then naturally the more time it takes to design, get it approved, develop it, test it, bug-fix it, and then polish it.

Why would a coalition event take longer to design than a non-coalition event?

I can see that a ‘large’ coalition event might take more server power to run than a ‘smaller’ non-coalition one, but there’s no reason it would inherently take more time to design. Nodes are nodes, objectives are objectives, matchmaking is matchmaking…

Inb4 Brigby compares non-coalition PvP with coalition PvE.

I very much would like set-specific events.

Deck-building is my favorite part of the game, and there’s so many cards I would want to try out. It’s hard to justify taking a test-build Simic deck to get wiped out against another Sarkan Unbroken scapeshift deck. A space to try out themes and combos within a set would go a long ways to me.

That would be pretty nice. I wind up in the same boat. Try out some crazy random stuff and play into Ral with BSZ nuking me to death.

I would love some events with very restrictive objectives such as Mono PW only, using tribal/set-specific card types, etc.

Fun restrictions, not win with less than 30 life or summon two werewolves combined with summon 2 or fewer creatures.

Set-specific/restricted events have been brought up time and again as a way to generate some new flavor in the otherwise-same event structures. It’s such an easy way to change up the dynamics as you mention, and would require far less development than creating all-new events from scratch. We know they can restrict by specific PW, by PW color, and by card set (Legacy vs Standard) - the structure to make event restriction exists, it just needs to be used more.

It’s also why I think expanding Standard to match paper rotation was a bad choice. With 8 sets to choose from instead of 4, there’s little incentive to change anything once it’s established, especially since rotation now only occurs once a year (if that). So we end up playing the same decks for the same events ad nauseum…
